Last I heard (sometime in June or July I think) she had extended at least through November. I haven't heard anything about past that, but I really hope she does! I think it's fairly likely considering the nature of the show and the relationships between the cast members, but she (and many of the others) have been doing the show for a total of over 4 years (counting pre-Broadway) and I realize they're going to move on eventually...
If you happened to find a pre-Broadway playbill (Atlantic Theatre) for The Band's Visit, I've been on the lookout for one for quite a while! Also pretty much anything Come From Away related, especially rare items that they don't sell at the theatre/online.
I was in that show in a community production back in middle school, and I agree - it needs more appreciation! That said, I do have to say that the British accents on the cast recording I used really do add a lot. Also, it seems to me to be more popular as a show for community youth/school theatre, but who knows...
Every time in Come From Away when they switch from the plane set-up to a scene in Gander (e.g. the Tim Horton's). It's incredible of how much they can do just with 12 chairs, in a matter of literal seconds.
I'm really sad it's closing, but the good news is that right before I saw the closing announcement, I got the schedule for the theatre in Burlington, VT (where I go to school/primarily live) and Waitress will be there in January so I'm hoping to see it! (It's pretty rare that VT gets tours Broadway shows as well-known/current/recent as that so I'm really excited it'll be there! Possibly even worth my coming back from Christmas break a week early...
Come From Away for sure. Each and every character has their own story that they were going through, and as the audience, we get to see it all, rather than just following one or two lead roles, the way it is in a lot of shows. There's the story of Beverley's journey to becoming the first female American Airlines captain, the story of the two Kevins finding acceptance as a gay couple, the story of Nick and Diane's blossoming romance, the story of Hannah struggling to find out whethe
I'm so relieved that she's not leaving for good. I saw CFA in Toronto last summer but have yet to see it on Broadway (although I did stagedoor in January and meet her!) and it's one of my biggest dreams to see her perform, so I hope there's a chance of it still happening. Unless she's ill or on vacation or something I imagine she'd be on June 1st.
I haven't heard anything in quite a while but I really hope it does. I sang a song from it for a recital my senior year of high school and have been in love with it ever since.
