Need some advice! I found a steal of a Ticketmaster deal (under $100) on a great center mezzanine seat to Hadestown for this Tuesday the 28th. I work for a company that produces broadway shows though and they offered us all comped tickets to Tootsie for Tuesday as well. Should I try to sell my Hadestown ticket in hopes of finding another good deal hopefully before the Tony's? Are the prices gonna skyrocket for Hadestown as it gets closer to the awards so I should stick with it and see the show? I'm very conflicted - the shows are so different and I've heard great things about each.
I’ve seen Hadestown twice and both times it was amazing. I haven’t seen Tootsie yet but I will eventually.
For Hadestown, I found $79 on Ticketmaster the other day but it was for the two row Balcony. I also found $109 plus fees for Mezz at Hadestown too so it’s possible to see it from Mezz for just over $100.
I personally wouldn’t give up Hadestown ticket right now. The tickets jumped after Tony noms and I bet they’ll jump again too. That $79 Balcony ticket will probably be $99 after the Tonys.
Having seen both shows, Hadestown is the superior one for sure. Plus Hadestown is selling much better right now. It’ll be much easier to find a discount Tootise ticket than Hadestown.
Unless you have a work-related reason to take the comped tickets, I would stick with those bargain tickets to Hadestown. It's pretty easy to get discount tickets to Tootsie (I just got them for $58 at the TKTS booth five minutes before showtime on a trip 9 days ago), and I suspect that won't change much unless it wins Best Musical at the Tonys.
I enjoyed Tootsie. It's a funny show with some fine performances. But Hadestown is in another league, and you'll probably see the original cast at a price that won't be available for a while.
Tootsie. Hadestown tickets will spike briefly, then drop by the fall when shows like Moulin Rouge pull a similar audience. But you could see your Hadestown ticket for a lot right now, see Tootsie for free, and then come back to Hadestown in the fall.
But of course this all depends on which show you really want to see (meaning, if you're dying to see Hadestown, then ignore what I said above and see it; but it you're indifferent between the two shows, then go for Tootsie).
Not sure if you’ll find another good deal from Hadestown before the Tony’s. Getting comp’d tix are great and for me I’d pick Tootsie comped tickets for sure. Wait until the low season to find another good deal for Hadestown. Good luck in your decision!
