I wish Detroit did teasers or a subscriber preview night like some other markets do. All we get is an email. I just wish we weren't as much as an afterthought as it feels sometimes.

Fairly pleased with the Pantages/Dolby season.

I'm surprised Hairspray isn't at the Pantages/Dolby. Perhaps it will be an add on? If not, I hope it goes to the Ahmanson. 

Wasn't Avenue Q suppose to tour?

I'm pleased with the season as well.  Just curious what's going to fill in a lot of the down time for both venues.  But the Pantages/Dolby season along with the Ahmanson season so far, super strong.  Now waiting on the Hollywood Bowl announcement.  :)

It's the same way in Indianapolis. They want to increase their subscriber base because it isn't as high as other cities but they don't do anything to promote it - or they do very little.

If they would hype the announcement of the new season just a fraction of what these other cities are doing the subscriptions would increase.

I've really been looking forward to seeing the Oklahoma! Revival, but it's scheduled for the Dolby. I really was hoping for a more intimate staging.

Potter is too big to run just six months. It’s a year or more minimum. And it will likely still be in SF in 2021."

When Potter moves to Los Angeles I wonder what theatre it would go to? I would have thought the Pantanges/Dolby would be too big for it and the show would be lost in there. The Ahmanson would be the perfect theatre for it. But what do you then do with your subscription packages?

I've been looking forward to the tour as well, after seeing it at CITS in October, and gotta say I'm pretty bummed about this, too. I'll still go see it, but was hoping a smaller venue would get it.

You’re assuming Potter moves to LA based on what? There’s been no mention of any plans to bring the show anywhere specific when it eventually closes in SF. It’s in SF for quite a while, a few years I’m told.

I am basing this on other board members mentioning it. I am not saying it will go to LA direct after San Francisco, but that does tend to happen. Anyway I doubt Potter will play SF as long as you advocate, as the the Broadway production is starting to run out of steam and shows in other American cities do not play as long as Broadway, no where near. It be done in a years time.

I’ve heard there were plans to bring Harry Potter to Chicago, but they ultimately got cancelled which I think is unfortunate

I think this one's been quietly cancelled. The show's press agency doesn't have it on the shows page of their site, and the lead couple appear to be currently involved in another project (see: https://bit.ly/39cM6T1)

The show could still happen (and I was told late last year it was still on), but all signs are pointing to either a delay or cancellation.

Phantom In London, my comments are based on info received from folks working within the Cursed Child orbit. THey've got a multi-year deal for SF. Now, anything is possible and they might break that deal, but they're there at least two years I'm told, possibly three. 

I believe Chicago lost out because of the deal for Toronto.

Agreed.  When the SHN/Carole lawsuit details were released over a year ago it was revealed that the Potter deal was for three years with the ability to extend:

"The ruling also reveals that the Ambassador Theater Group, a British company closely affiliated with the lead producer of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” at first sought to take over long-term programming at the Curran even after the run of that show.

Hays refused, and instead negotiated an agreement that brings the play to San Francisco while leaving her in control of future programming as well as physical alterations to the theater; the ruling says that the intention is to run “Cursed Child” in San Francisco for three years, starting next fall, although the run could be extended." (NY Times)

In light of the price drops seen for both HP Broadway and Hamilton SF, it will be interesting to see if HP at the Curran can last a full three years.  Also noteworthy that Hamilton at the Pantages appears to be scheduled for only a year and 3 months maximum since The Lion King is booked there for Summer 2021.  I don't know how others feel, but given the continued strength of ticket prices on Broadway and the length of the Chicago engagement I am surprised these West Coast Hamilton sit-downs haven't been able to sustain higher ticket prices or longer engagements.

Of course ATG has never been shy about spending money to buy into or get out of situations thus far. (Nor perhaps Carole Shorenstein Hays, but that's another matter) So, while I expect that Cursed Child will play a good two years in SF, I'd not be surprised for any existing arrangements be renegotiated thereafter (or at any time) should ATG or the HP producers want a change.

I've been wondering the same thing, so I reached out to someone at Equity.  The response I got was:

"We have not yet received confirmation of that tour remaining Equity next season (these decisions are generally made in the spring), though there is a good chance it will remain a union production."
