I like the design. It's obviously intended to be vintage with purposefully faded colors. I like the three fonts they chose for the key art and billing, and I enjoy the show specific mock ads on the top and bottom of the website. River City Billiards, Ladies Auxiliary, Volunteer Hose Brigademen Training, and the River City Personals with a quote from "Till There Was You."

Oh pipe down and stop being ridiculous. It’s happening and it’s going to be a great big fat hit.

It will happen, but probably not in April. Be patient, people.

That's not vintage. That's basic 30 min photoshop. It's the laziest marquee design in recent memory."
You can dislike the Music Man key art, and you can think it won't help sell tickets, but I don't think you can accurately say it is lazy design. Rudin uses an agency in LA to create his key art (and then itused to get passed off to SpotCo, who knows who he's using now.) But that agency and his key art had less many movies to getting Oscars and many shows to getting Tonys, so like it or not, it seems to be working for him."
I never questioned his capacity to sell anything. But this artwork is beyond basic and lazy, which proves the show itself would be a hit without trying hard in investing in publicity. Considering he won't sell merchandise either, he can give us practically anything.
If he goes with a top notch agency, he certainly bought their most basic package for this one.
Listen, I don't take my clothes off for anyone, even if it is "artistic". - JANICE

I would be willing to bet that there were many, many versions and iterations of the artwork, that they did market research to try to figure out what would work best, and that we're seeing the result of that process. That would be a lot of work, not laziness.
What if they are filming this and going to market it the same as Diana where they’re are going to release it on peacock or something prior to officially opening?
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.

Scott Rudin does not even have promotional video footage available for any of his shows. A filming released before opening is 110% NOT happening.

Was he on the way to a meeting or even a pre-rehearsal session with WCarlyle re The Music Man?
Well he is certainly NOT off to a regatta on the Thames!
Now--- who is going to look good wearing those colours on a T-shirt?very few, maybe a ginger[love em !] and a magnet won't stand out on a fridge; cap? maybe;backpak? yep, so merchandising will have a tough sell with those colours.
Perhaps they should have gone with all the razzle dazzle colours of the Marching Band.
If this show is going to lead 'us' out of this corona crap then there should be celebration colours screaming from the marquee, a time to rejoice, forget your troubles etc. As corny as it might be I don't want to see clever/historical artyfarty up outside the theatre, I want the blazing trombones, marching kids, silly hats and frocks---JOY/LAUGHTER so that when you look up at the marquee all you want to do is smile and join in behind all those happy people joining TOGETHER to make this crazy world a magical place.
Rip it down and start again, it's DRAB like the current situation. "
This show is never gonna happen for when they’re planning it for. Never never never. It’s going to be pushed back at least by 4 months. U heard it here 1st.
This would be a very nice addition to the 2021 holiday season, if you ask me. The kind of old-fashioned, optimistic show with star power that audiences will be really hungry for.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Would not bet the farm on this. Just announced Times Square will.Have the ball dropping on an empty Times Square .Add to that the Met has cancelled next year's season so earliest that will be back is 2022.BY the time they are finished not only will virus being leveled off but NY Entertainment and Restaurants will be destroyed beyond repair.
Doubt this will come off unless he performs on an empty stage and it is a pay per view event .
And I thought my getting hip replacement would be a temporary thing. Powers that be needs to come up with a plan. NY tourism is taking a hit

You're probably right as BWAY will reopen next fall and not this spring-summer.

Sorry Jo but that was just so D.R.E.A.R.Y ! There was that great uplifting, stirring joyous marching tune as the camera pans along a sad PLAIN drab marquee surrounding equally uninteresting neighbours.
