Pumpkin Theatre continues its 44th Season "What's in a Name?" with the musical ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY. Everyone has bad days but this one takes the cake. Alexander is tortured by his brothers and sisters, forgets his homework, get gum stuck in his hair; just a terrible day. How will he muddle through?

Baltimore Playwrights Festival Announces Play Reading Festival

Beginning at 11:00 a.m. plays to be read are Raising David Walker by Peter Snoad, followed at 1:00 p.m. by Lethal Injection by Michael Reimann, and at 3:00 p.m. by Our Lady of Sandwich by Mario Baldessari and Keith Bridges. After each reading there will be a discussion of the script with the playwright, director and actors. The event is free, and the general public is encouraged to attend.
Children’s Playhouse of Maryland to Present A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD in March

The Children's Playhouse of Maryland, in residence at the Community College of Baltimore County, Essex, has chosen A Year with Frog and Toad as its March musical. Performances will be 1 p.m. March 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, and 18 and 4 p.m. March 11 in the J Building Lecture Hall, CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard in Rosedale. The 4 p.m. show will be sign-language interpreted by students from the CCBC Catonsville Interpreter Preparation Program. Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for birthday parties or scout troops. Tickets can be reserved through the CCBC Box Office, 443-840-2787 (ARTS) or purchased at the door (space permitting).

Silver Spring Stage presents Tom Stoppard's Hapgood, directed by Doug Krehbel and produced by Natalie McManus, a funny and brain teasing espionage thriller set in the Cold War of secret research could be stolen. Hapgood will perform weekends February 24 to March 17.

Dundalk Community Theatre brings to stage the classic "Who-done-it" Go Back For Murder, from Feb 24 to March 4th. From the pen of the master of suspense, murder and mystery, comes a lesser produced play with the final unraveling of the mystery as only Agatha Christie can do. Director Joey Hellman's ensemble includes: Stephanie Marks, Mark Macaluso, Liz Armour, Elisa Dugan, Randy Dalmas, Tom Wyatt, Suzanne Young, Denis Latkowski, Brian Mellen and John Chrzanowski. Individual tickets are $23 for adults, $20 for senior adults and $15 for students/DCT Actors/Children 12 and under.
Maryland University to Host GODSPELL 2/24

Notre Dame of Maryland University will be presenting GODSPELL in memory of Julie Kline Rybczynski. This production will have musical direction by Stephen Holmes & Tiffany Underwood Holmes, direction from Gene Farrington, and choreography by Candace Sumner. It will run from Feb 24 to March 4.

Martin McDonagh's A SKULL IN CONNEMARA reflects today's attention-span-shortened audience...Concise but clever, with laughing and bashing, a playful bit of a play...but not particularly demanding of its audience...unlike, say Eugene O'Neill's THE ICEMAN COMETH. Does 'SKULL' represent a trend in modern theater? Are the days of 4-hour plays over?

In a play in which morally acceptable and unacceptable stances are hopelessly intertwined and might turn an audience off, there are two things that will draw us to the play anyway: Portia and Shylock. If they are right, the play will succeed, despite all its difficulties. They are right as can be in this staging.
