CENTERSTAGE Kicks Off Season with AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, Now thru 10/21

CENTERSTAGE's historic 50th Anniversary Season officially kicks off with AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE, directed by Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah, in a landmark production that takes Arthur Miller's translation of Ibsen's classic and uses it to examine the contemporary media landscape. The production begins previews tonight, September 19 and opens September 27.

Winnie the Pooh, one of the most popular children's characters of all time, has made his home at the Way Off Broadway Children's Theatre this fall with the theatre's production of Disney's Winnie the Pooh. On Wednesday, September 26th, Pooh and his friends will be venturing from Way Off Broadway to the Frederick Library for its 11:00 a.m. story time.

Children's Playhouse of Maryland Presents OLIVER!, Now thru 9/30

The Children's Playhouse of Maryland kicks off its 2012-2013 season with the musical Oliver! The play with music, lyrics, and book by Lionel Bart is an adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel "Oliver Twist." The musical will be performed 1 p.m. today, Sept. 15 - 16, 22-23, 29 -30 and 4 p.m. Sept. 23. in the J Building Lecture Hall at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. The 4 p.m. show will be sign-language interpreted by students from the CCBC Catonsville Interpreter Preparation Program. Tickets are $10 general admission and $8 for birthday parties or scout troops. Tickets are available in advance through the CCBC Box Office at 443-840-ARTS (2787) and at the door, space permitting.

BSO Partners with Parsons The New School for Design to Create Fashions for Modern Orchestras

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) and BSO Music Director Marin Alsop are passionate about breaking down barriers that separate orchestras from their audiences. In keeping with that vision, Maestra Alsop has funded a pilot partnership with Parsons The New School for Design to create new interactions between the orchestra and its audience through a re-imagining of traditional concert dress. This semester-long collaborative studio will investigate new fashions and wearable technologies that emphasize a networked world of musicians, audiences, the music being performed and the concert hall facility.
