 When The Dream Syndicate emerged in the early 80s, front man Steve Wynn declared, “We're playing music we want to hear because nobody else is doing it.” He added, “I'll compromise on what I eat or where I sleep, but I won't compromise on what music I play.” Both were true, and although their template of Velvet Underground meets Crazy Horse may seem commonplace today (and let's not forget, the Syndicate spawned many imitators), their raw twin guitar, bass and drums approach was not common during an era when slick, polished MTV bands ruled.

Today, Raleigh, NC's Chatham County Line share the lyric video for the title track of their forthcoming ninth studio album, Strange Fascination, and announce they have moved up the release date to April 24 (originally May 15). A staple of the North Carolina music scene for two decades, the band Introduce a new sound and line up with Strange Fascination, which is now available for pre-order.

Influential Athens, GA math-rock quartet We Versus The Shark (mems. Double Ferrari, Bit Brigade, Sunwatchers, Man... Zachery Allan Starkey has released 'Force' with Bernard Sumner of New Order. Combining Starkey's passionate songwriting/production with Sumner's trademark synthesizer, guitar, sequencer, and programming work, “Force” is an uplifting anthem reminding us to remain strong and brave in these dark and frightening times. “Fear will not tear us apart!” sings Starkey at the climax of the track. 'Force' also marks the first brand new music from Sumner since the release of New Order's 2015 LP Music Complete.

Brazilian-bred, Los Angeles-based alternative rock trio SOFIA has released their new single 'Closer' along with the official visual for the emotional track. Set against a steady drumbeat and spacey guitars, 'Closer' tells the story of someone on the verge of giving up on the relationship because their partner seems to enjoy the chaos that comes from confrontation more than being happy and at peace with the relationship itself. 

Sydney trio Bloods have just revealed the second single to be lifted from their forthcoming Seattle EP, out May 15 via Share It Music (pre-order). Titled, 'I Hate It,' the track stands alongside a deliriously fun video clip which premiered today at The Grey Estates and is guaranteed to inject some delight in your day.

Dayglow recently announced he has postponed his sold out US Spring tour, but there is some good news for fans, with new fall dates to be announced soon. Wanting to help some of those affected by all the recent upheaval, Dayglow has announced he will be selling all spring merch items that he had already printed and donating the proceeds to benefit the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund.

Angela Muñoz just released “In My Mind,” the second single from her debut album Introspection, due June 19 via Linear Labs and produced by multi-instrumentalist and label head Adrian Younge (The Midnight Hour, Marvel's Luke Cage). “I wrote this song thinking about the journey of love,” notes Muñoz. “Despite my age, I have an awareness of what expressing love looks like. As I was writing this song, I wanted to challenge myself as a songwriter. This led me to imagine myself in the place of George Gershwin. If I could choose anyone to interpret this song it would be Sarah Vaughan. Ultimately, love can manifest itself in many ways.”

This Friday March 27th, Peter Bjorn and John will co-host a 36-hour video live-stream marathon on Twitch from their INGRID Studios in Stockholm. Titled 36h INGRID, the live-stream event starts at 9am ET on Friday – with the band's set at 5pm ET – and runs until Saturday the 28th at 10pm ET. Peter Bjorn and John's 36h INGRID marathon will also offer live sets and DJ sets from several of their friends in and surrounding the INGRID collective. Today, EMI Records Nashville's Brandon Lay releases the music video for “For My Money,” his “rich new single” (Sounds Like Nashville) currently climbing country airplay charts. Brandon, who wrote the “For My Money” with Andrew DeRoberts, describes the song as “deception and flirtation at its best.”

Today, making good on their promise to give fans something fun to help remedy cabin fever, acclaimed alt-rock band Moon Taxi shared their new single, “Hometown Heroes.” A buoyant celebration of friendship and unity, the track was recorded in the band's hometown of Nashville and produced by Spencer Thomson, Moon Taxi's guitar player, and Christian Medice. Released by BMG, it is the first single from the band's forthcoming album, which will be released this summer.

The tribute concert is hosted by comedian Maya Rudolph, who will also perform with her Prince cover band Princess.
