The Emory Cinematheque Series Announces MOVIE MAGIC Screenings

The Emory Cinematheque Series presents "Movie Magic: Special and Visual Effects from 1896 to Now" for its free, 35 mm film screenings this fall. Beginning Aug. 29 with Martin Scorsese's 'Hugo,' the screenings are held each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Emory's White Hall 208. A special Oct. 3 screening will be held at the Plaza Theatre.

This summer, Center for Puppetry Arts presents a very special production for Atlanta's younger audience members and their parents. Five timeless tales of fun and friendship hit the stage in a fresh and invigorating new format specifically developed to engage and educate children ages two through six. This 'Theater for the Very Young' production takes audiences on a playful carnival ride with a bandwagon of animal friends that will have little ones bouncing, clapping, and singing along. The show features some of Aesop's most famous fables including the Lion and the Mouse, the Country Mouse and City Mouse, the Fox and the Crane, the Ant and the Grasshopper, and the Tortoise and the Hare.
Sally Kellerman Appears at Emory Screening of M*A*S*H* Tonight, 7/29

Join fabled Hollywood star Sally Kellerman and Emory's Department of Film and Media Studies for a screening of Robert Altman's 1970 classic anti-war film "M*A*S*H*", tonight, July 29 at 10:15 a.m. at Atlanta's Landmark Midtown Art Theater. Following the screening, Kellerman will talk about the making of this groundbreaking film in a discussion moderated by Emory professor Eddy von Mueller. A VIP champagne brunch follows at Apres Diem.
Atlanta Symphony Announces The Florence Kopleff Choral Administrator Chair

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has announced the creation of The Florence Kopleff Choral Administrator Chair in perpetuity as a tribute to American Contralto Florence Kopleff who died on July 24, 2012. The impact of Miss Kopleff - once called the "greatest living alto" by Time magazine - on American music and the Atlanta Symphony will be felt for generations to come. Jeffrey Baxter, current Choral Administrator for the Atlanta Symphony, longtime member of the ASO Chorus, and a friend of Miss Kopleff, will be the first holder of the chair.
