The Atlanta Opera to Offer MUSIC! WORDS! OPERA! Training for Educators
From July 9-13, 2012, The Atlanta Opera will be offering Music!Words!Opera!, an intensive training program designed to teach professional educators how to integrate opera into classroom curriculum.
This program is designed for teachers of all subjects and grade levels (K-12). Participants receive five full days of training led by OPERA America professionals, tickets to 2012-2013 Atlanta Opera Final Dress Rehearsals, an invitation to attend supplemental professional development teacher workshops, and special pricing for other in-school programming throughout the year. To register, participants must complete a registration form and return it to education@atlantaopera.org or fax, 404.881.1711. There is a $50 material fee. Music!Words!Opera! is an arts-integrated curriculum reflecting the highly interdisciplinary nature of opera, and using the art form as a tool to aid students and teachers in their explorations of history, language, literature and music.
