What happens when a top-notch beauty professional and a high-end beauty brand are brought together? This is the question that is making hair, make-up and style aficionados all abuzz as they eagerly await the upcoming salon masterclasses by award-winning stylist Daniel McLennan.

The masterclasses will be specially designed as an intensive workshop that will reveal and demonstrate McLennan’s hair and makeup styling secrets to a limited number of participants. It was conceptualised on the heels of McLennan’s win as a selected finalist for the prestigious De Lorenzo Gold Photographic Competition 2012.

“Being selected as a national finalist was a turning point for me. The judges are among the industry’s most revered, and my competitors are the best in their fields. Being picked among hundreds of other entries was a very humbling experience,” says McLennan, who has collected awards over the years both for business recognition and for hair and makeup, Sydney-based and nation-wide competitions.

His most recent achievements include making it as finalist for two succeeding years in the Waverly Best and Brightest Businesses and as a strong contender for the eagerly awaited roster of finalists for the American Crew Face Off 2013. For the latest season of MasterChef Australia, he was featured as hair and makeup artist for the Final 6 contestants, and was invited to the final judging episodes—all contestants declared him as their favourite hairdresser.

“I’ve always believed in paying forward—sharing the knowledge and experienced I’ve gained over the years, this masterclass is my small way of promoting craft, innovation and esteem in the profession,” he explains.

McLennan’s work is regularly featured in top events and projects in fashion, TV, print, movies and music. One Room is his youngest baby—he has already established four successful salons under his name in Sydney and the UK, and is regarded as the hairdresser, Sydney clients say, who proudly supports world-class Australian made and owned hair products such as De Lorenzo and Kevin Murphy.

His masterclass will showcase the internationally renowned cosmetics line Lord & Berry, the make-up brand known for its commitment to beauty, culture and diversity.

“Our partnership with Lord & Berry brings to the fore One Room’s shared conviction with the their brand philosophy: inspiring self-confidence in a woman’s beauty,” says McLennan. “We’re excited to see the special techniques and the gorgeous looks the participants can learn to create, given Lord & Berry’s strong focus on lip and eye makeup.”

The tie-up also officially heralds the partnership of One Room as Lord & Berry exclusive product retailer in Sydney. “We all know how cutting edge their beauty products are, which mirrors our salon’s emphasis on innovation and technique,” says McLennan.

“Notice the looks they recently created on the runways for Marc Jacobs and Yves St Laurent? The key products and colours acknowledge the different origins, climates and traditions of women across the globe,” he adds. “It’s very much aligned with how our styling team works: we define your look by your specific features, personality and lifestyle, all those characteristics that make you very unique—and define you as beautiful.”
