An invitation only reading of Jean Giebel's new play Chasing the River will be presented at New World Stages today, November 10th.

Directed by Will Nunziata, the reading will feature Tony nominee Carmello (Scandalous: The Life and Trials of Aimee Semple McPherson), Tony winner Huffman (The Producers, The Nance, Curb Your Enthusiasm), Tony nominee Kudisch (9 to 5, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Lincoln Center's A Minister's Wife), Deborah Rayne ("Nurse Jackie," "Unforgettable,"Spirits of Exit Eleven), Arturo Ruiz ("Broad City", "Sunbelt Express") and Ella Dershowitz (Intimacy, HBO's "Phil Spector").

Giebel's new play, according to press notes, is about the following: "After serving a 10 year prison sentence, a young woman returns home to the scene of the horrific events that ended with the destruction of her family. As she searches for a way to make peace with her past, new revelations and unexpected reunions clash with her memories of her childhood. She finally begins to realize that although life dealt her a losing hand, there may still be a chance to turn it all around; it all depends on how she plays her cards."

New World Stages is nestled between Times Square and Hell's Kitchen, and is the renowned theatrical complex which has served as the home of Tony Award winning, Guinness Record setting, and Pulitzer Prize earning shows. It is located at 340 West 50th Street in New York City.
