After a week of air-conditioning problems at The Lynn Redgrave Theater that caused some performances to be canceled and others to be performed with only work lights, FringeNYC has moved 8 of its shows to SoHo Playhouse.
"We tried our best to remedy the situation. Portable units were rented. Repairmen were dispatched. Parts were ordered, shipped and installed," notes Producing Artistic Director Elena K. Holy. "But the problems are bigger than anyone could have imagined. Thankfully, producer Darren Cole at SoHo Playhouse has come to our rescue." Now, all of the following performances will be presented at SoHo Playhouse (15 Vandam Street between Varick Street and 6th Avenue -- accessible from the C & E trains at Spring Street):• The Crack in the Ceiling, a musical about repairing a cracked ceiling.
• Creative License, a musical comedy about staging a new musical.
• Dex! A Killer Musical, the unauthorized parody of Dexter, the TV show.
• Divine/Intervention, a bio drama that revolves around drag icon Divine.
• Laugh Track, a behind-the-scenes look at creating a sitcom.
• Reading Between the Lies, a 1940's noir farce.
• Single Room Occupancy, a musical about a single guy and his tiny apartment.
• Stalker: The Musical, about a boy obsessed with a girl.
* Beware the Chupacabra!, a dark musical journey to seek put a mythical beast.
• The Report, a true story about the cover up of deadliest civilian incident of World War II.
• The Submarine Show, an imaginative physical comedy by an Emmy winner and former Cirque du Soleil performer.
• Summer Blue, a soulful jazz and blues infused performance piece. All of the shows at both venues will be presented on their originally announced schedules.
