The Canadian Music Theatre Project (the "CMTP") at Sheridan College presents a staged reading of composer/lyricist Neil Bartram and book writer Brian Hill's new musical, The Theory of Relativity, April 11 - 20, at the Studio Theatre at Sheridan's Trafalgar Campus in Oakville, Ontario. Two additional performances will take place on Monday, April 22, at Toronto's Panasonic Theatre.

We are standing motionless ... on a planet that spins at 1070 miles per hour ... and orbits the sun at 67,000 miles per hour ... in a galaxy careening through space at 490,000 miles per hour.
Hey, it's all relative. But that's nothing compared to the seismic impact of simple human connection. The Theory of Relativity is a joyous, youthful musical exploration of the surprising interconnectedness of our own personal orbits as we stand "motionless" on this little rock hurtling through space.

"We've been inspired by the stories of the many college students we've work with over the past few years and Sheridan College gave us a great opportunity to shape them into something that we hope resonates with student performers and audiences," said Bartram and Hill.

"We are proud to have commissioned this exciting new musical by Bartram and Hill. The show has been created in consultation with college students and is an opportunity for them to perform their universal stories," said CMTP producer and associate dean Michael Rubinoff.

Due to interest in the piece from schools around the world, Sheridan will stream two performances live online at 2:00PM EST and 7:30PM EST on Saturday, April 13 via www.sheridantv.ca.

"Rather than tell people about the show, we are capitalizing on technology to invite people into our theatre from all over the globe. We are pioneering a unique way to share new musicals," statEd Rubinoff. Music theatre performance students, graduates and musical theatre fans are invited to engage in discussion about the show via www.facebook.com/TheTheoryofRelativityMusical.

Composer/lyricist Neil Bartram and book writer Brian Hill are the writers of Broadway's The Story of My Life, which earned four 2009 Drama Desk Award Nominations including Outstanding Production of a Musical. Their new show, Spin, will premiere at the Signature Theatre this summer directed by Eric Schaeffer and they are currently developing a musical adaptation of Ray Bradbury's Something Wicked This Way Comes.
