On Tuesday, May 28, 2022, Bay Street had a kickoff cocktail party celebrating the start of their Summer season! Hosted by Tracy Mitchell with creatives from bay Street's first summer Production, Windfall, Emmy nominated composer and writer of Windfall Richard Kind, and comedy legend and director Jason Alexander. Artistic Director Scott Schwartz, Board members, and patrons all gathered by the water to celebrate the return after two years of virtual or socially distanced shows. Both Scott Schwartz and Tracy Mitchell spoke at the party about the upcoming season and marked the true return to theatre at Bay Street!

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce comedian, storyteller, director, podcaster, producer, and actor Mike Birbiglia will join the 2022 Mainstage Season with six back-to-back nights of stand-up comedy starting Monday, July 11, through Saturday, July 16, staged in rep with Bay Street's second Mainstage show, Anna in the Tropics. Tickets are currently available exclusively to Bay Street Theater Patrons and Mainstage Subscribers, and to any new 2022 Mainstage Subscription holder.

On the heels of his award-winning Broadway show, The New One, comedian and storyteller Mike Birbiglia is coming to the Steppenwolf stage with a tale of life, death, and a highly chlorinated YMCA pool.

Following a sold-out run at The Cherry Lane Theatre, and after selling out the SoHo Playhouse just a week into its current run, Alex Edelman's critically acclaimed comedy show Just For Us will enjoy another encore engagement this summer at The Greenwich House Theater (27 Barrow Street, NYC), producer Mike Birbiglia announced today.

Last night, stand-up comic Alex Edelman appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform a brief set in promotion of his acclaimed and upcoming off-Broadway show, Just for Us. The one-man show is set to run from March 14th through April 23rd at the SoHo Playhouse, located at 15 Vandam Street, NYC.

Just before the Off-Broadway return of his hit solo show Just For Us, Alex Edelman will make his national television standup comedy debut performing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Named a Critic’s Pick by the New York Times, Just For Us is presented by Mike Birbiglia and directed by Adam Brace.

 Off-Broadway premiere! How does a hapless tour guide juggle a Senator’s lofty legacy with his litany of sex scandals? That’s the question at the heart of the seriously funny one-man show, The Honorable Herbert Peabody, written and performed by Kirk McGee.

The new guests include Helen Mirren as renowned Shame Wizard Rita St. Swithens, Hugh Jackman as Dante the seductive Addiction Angel, Lupita Nyong’o as Asha the Shame Wizard, Chris O'Dowd as Flanny the Lovebug, and Harvey Guillen as Jose the Spider Receptionist. Steppenwolf Theatre Company is opening its stunning new in-the-round Ensemble Theater in Honor of Helen Zell—the centerpiece of its recently unveiled Liz and Eric Lefkofsky Arts and Education Center—with ensemble member Yasen Peyankov’s extraordinarily funny and lyrical adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Seagull, April 28–June 12, 2022 (opening May 8).

As part of their free virtual salon series, Wingspace Theatrical Design will present a conversation on Thursday, February 24 at 7:00pm ET with Aaron Copp, Kate Ducey, Stowe Nelson and Lauren Halvorsen as they talk about their work inside and outside of theater.

Due to popular demand, the one-man comedy moves to the SoHo Playhouse for six weeks only, playing March 14 - April 23, 2022.

Alex Edelman’s new show Just For Us will resume performances tonight, January 24, at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street), following a temporary hiatus due to the Omicron variant.

Molly Brenner will present The Pleasure’s Mine written by Ms. Brenner and directed by Elizabeth Bennett. The production will be presented as part of the 2022 FRIGID Festival at UNDER St. Marks.

Due to the COVID-19 surge driven by the Omicron variant, and out of an abundance of caution for public health, Steppenwolf Theatre Company has postponed its Steppenwolf for Young Adults world premiere adaptation of Eve L. Ewing's 1919 with the hope of producing the show in the fall of 2022.
