Today's top stories: Six officially opens, Flying Over Sunset begins previews, and more!

Lincoln Center Theater has announced an online ticket lottery for its new musical FLYING OVER SUNSET, beginning with the musical's first preview Thursday, March 12 at 8pm at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street). The musical, with book and direction by James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt, and lyrics by Michael Korie, and choreography by Michelle Dorrance will open Thursday, April 16.

Highlights of Broadway are in the spotlight, sung (and occasionally danced) in the valued and audience-pleasing concert series at The Town Hall in NYC. Shows from the first five years of the 21st century were represented in the season opener.

On Monday, April 6th, 2020, at 9:30PM, MT Shorts, the premiere platform for musical short films, will celebrate those that came before them by paying homage to the great movie musicals of the last century. This one-night-only event, at Feinstein's/54 Below, will include a sneak peak preview of MT Shorts' upcoming film 'Still Here' written by Ben Roseberry and Chip Klose and directed by Kaye Tuckerman, featuring a clip from the movie and Roseberry debuting one of the songs live.

The Town Hall will present Broadway By The Year©: Volume 2: Broadway Musicals of 2005-2009 on Monday, March 30 at 8pm. Created, written, hosted and directed by Scott Siegel for The Town Hall, the evening will continue Broadway By The Year©'s 20th landmark season at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street).

Flying Over Sunset is currently in rehearsals! The musical, with a book and direction by James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt, and lyrics by Michael Korie, features choreography by Michelle Dorrance, and stars Carmen Cusack, Harry Hadden-Paton, Erika Henningsen, Jeremy Kushnier, Emily Pynenburg, Michele Ragusa, Robert Sella, Laura Shoop, Atticus Ware, and Tony Yazbeck. Aria Braswell, William Colin, Danny Gardner, Kate Marilley, Tony Roach, and Michael Winther understudy various roles.
