Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, today announced plans for its 2014/2015 Season. The upcoming season for the esteemed off-Broadway company begins in October with Rodgers & Hammerstein's ALLEGRO, directed by Tony Award-winner and CSC Associate Director John Doyle. ALLEGRO marks the second installment of CSC's Musical Theater Initiative, which launched last year with the company's hugely-successful production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Passion, directed by Doyle. Considered one of Richard Rodgers' and Oscar Hammerstein II's most personal and groundbreaking works, ALLEGRO was their third collaboration and first premiered on Broadway in 1947. (more...)

Robert Duvall Presents Gift to New York's Neighborhood Playhouse

When Robert Duvall was inducted into the Actor's Hall Of Fame last Sunday, February 9th, 2014, he announced that he would be donating the $10,000 grant that accompanies that honor to his acting alma mater, The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City. Executive Director, Pamela Moller Kareman released a statement saying - 'We are thrilled that Mr. Duvall thinks so highly of the school. MCC THEATER as announced the preliminary lineup of performers for the annual Miscast 2014 gala, which will feature one-night-only performances from stars of stage and screen including Zosia Mamet, Christian Borle, Anika Noni Rose, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Steven Pasquale, Jesse L. Martin, Sasha Allen, Keala Settle, and Nicole Parker. Phil Reno will serve as Musical Director. Additional performers will be announced at a later date. Miscast 2014 will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at The Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street). The evening will begin with a cocktail hour and gala dinner followed by the Miscast performances. At the same time, demand for apartments remained strong as the nation's apartment vacancy rate declined to 4.1 percent in the fourth quarter. In response to this news, Apartments.com conducted its annual survey of more than 1,500 renters to gain insights into their moving plans for 2014. Ridgefield Playhouse to Host Adult Comedy & Screenwriting Classes this Spring

With a good idea for a comedy routine or TV show, those inner talents that are dying to be discovered can be honed with a little help from the experts who will be teaching some unique adult ed workshops at The Ridgefield Playhouse. First up is comedienne Christine O'Leary's Comedy Writing Workshop for would-be comedians on Mondays March 3 thru April 14, from 7 - 9 p.m., followed by a "graduation showcase" at The Ridgefield Playhouse. Next is "Introduction to Screenwriting with Katie Torpey", for people who dream of turning a movie idea into a bona fide screenplay, on Tuesdays from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. starting March 25 thru May 20. Comedienne Christine O'Leary will teach stand-up comedy writing and guarantees that all students will be funny, without risk of not being laughed at, every Monday night for eight weeks. Students will learn the fundamentals of comedy writing and performance concluding with a comedy graduation show at The Ridgefield Playhouse. Everyone will pass with flying colors. Christine O'Leary is a social worker, project manager, social media editor and professional award-winning comedienne whose humor takes her to stages all over the country. He next appeared on Broadway opposite Brian Cox, Chris Noth, Kiefer Sutherland and Jim Gaffigan in a revival of his father Jason Miller's play, That Championship Season, which began previews on February 9, 2011 and closed on May 29, 2011.
