Stephen Mangan BIO

Stephen Mangan is a British actor known for his work on stage, television, and film. Born in 1968 in Ponders End, London, Mangan grew up in a family of Irish descent. He attended Cambridge University, where he studied law and was a member of the prestigious Cambridge Footlights comedy troupe.

Mangan's first major role on stage came in 1994, when he appeared in the West End production of "The Importance of Being Earnest" alongside Judi Dench. He went on to perform in a number of other successful productions, including "The Norman Conquests," for which he won an Olivier Award in 2009.

In addition to his work on stage, Mangan has also appeared in a number of popular television shows and films. He is perhaps best known for his role as Sean Lincoln in the British sitcom "Green Wing," which aired from 2004 to 2007. He has also appeared in "Episodes," "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency," and "The Split."

Mangan's film credits include "Billy Elliot," "Postman Pat: The Movie," and "Rush," in which he played the role of Alastair Caldwell. He has also lent his voice to a number of animated films, including "Pudsey the Dog: The Movie" and "Postman Pat: The Movie."

In addition to his work as an actor, Mangan is also a writer and producer. He co-created and starred in the British comedy series "Episodes," which earned him a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2012. He has also written and produced a number of other television shows, including "Houdini and Doyle" and "Hang Ups."

Mangan has been praised for his versatility as an actor, as well as his ability to seamlessly transition between stage, television, and film. He has also been praised for his comedic timing and his ability to bring depth and nuance to his characters.

Most recently, Mangan starred in the West End production of "The Man in the White Suit" at the Wyndham's Theatre. He played the role of Sidney Stratton, a brilliant but eccentric inventor who creates a fabric that never gets dirty or wears out. The production, which also starred Kara Tointon and Sue Johnston, received critical acclaim for its innovative staging and strong performances.
