The curtain rises next week on Bard SummerScape's 20th anniversary season, “Breaking Ground.” Presented in New York's Hudson Valley by the Fisher Center at Bard, also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the seven-week annual arts festival opens next Friday with the world premiere of Illinois (June 23–July 2).

The Fisher Center at Bard, currently celebrating its 20th Anniversary Season: Breaking Ground, announced Spiegeltent programming for Bard SummerScape 2023.

“Hoboken,” the new song from rising artist Franklin Jonas is out now on Pizzaslime Records (via Mad Decent). Franklin wrote and produced the track with Charlie Brand (Miniature Tigers, Weezer, Skizzy Mars) and Dave Weingarten. “Hoboken” follows Franklin’s first-ever music release, his debut single, “Cocaine.”

The seven-track collection showcases the original new holiday song, “Christmas Alone,” alongside intimate versions of tracks from Kirke’s acclaimed 2022 sophomore album, Lady For Sale, recorded earlier this year at The Blue Room at Third Man Records Nashville. Plus, check out upcoming tour dates!

Holler premiered the music video for “Keep It Spinning,” writing, “With its warm 70s soft rock sound and poppy hooks, it sounds like Linda Ronstadt on a road trip with the Go-Gos, bringing to mind the country-tinged glossy pop of recent albums from Pearl Charles and Lola Kirke.”  Watch the new music video now!

Released earlier this year, Lady For Sale saw Kirke building upon the artistic momentum of her 2016 debut EP and 2018’s full-length Heart Head West with an invigorating country pop-tinged blend of twangy hooks, glam guitars, high-spirited synth stylings, and the New York/Nashville-based artist’s deeply candid, increasingly powerful songcraft.

When Roe V Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court, singer-songwriter Margaret Glaspy’s immediate reaction, like the majority of the United States citizens, was both one of anger and the feeling that something needed to be done. Channeling those emotions, she was spurred to release “My Body My Choice” which is unfortunately still relevant today.

Lola Kirke’s sophomore album Lady for Sale is out today on Third Man Records and accompanying the title track is a Jane Fonda-inspired workout video starring Kirke, filmed at the famed Parthenon in Nashville by director Celia Rowlson-Hall and cinematographer Ben Chappell. White has also premiered the official music video for “What’s The Trick?” today on Facebook. The video is directed by Jason Lester (Wallows, Rostam, Animal Collective) and features some notable Nashville faces and places, including Regina McCrary (of the McCrary Sisters), singer-songwriter Adia Victoria, and singer-songwriter-actress Lola Kirke.

Lola Kirke has released an 80’s-reminiscent music video for “Pink Sky” the third single off her upcoming album Lady for Sale. The video, shot entirely on film and directed by Hailey Gates features Kirke in a pink frock with hair curlers atop her head, the mod makeup and grainy footage perfectly encapsulating the retro vibe of “Lady for Sale.”

Grammy Award-nominated Elle King, with special guest Lola Kirke, is coming to Las Vegas as part of her Drunk and Don’t Wanna Go Home Tour. She will perform for the first time at International Theater at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino on March 31.

This is Kirke’s first album with Jack White’s veritable Nashville-based indie after signing with them last year. Aiming to play a role in revitalizing the hard-hit cultural scene in New York City, The Barrow Group’s new 13,155 sq. ft. home currently plans a dynamic 60-seat theater, 5 sound-attenuated studios, offices, and a large community gathering space. Phased renovations are expected to begin in February 2022 and are estimated to cost $4 million in total.
