National Dance Institute, the nonprofit arts education organization founded by legendary New York City Ballet principal dancer Jacques d’Amboise, celebrated the life of Dr. Maya Angelou at their 2023 Event of the Year, June 17-19th with a special Juneteenth performance.

National Dance Institute’s 47th Annual Gala on April 17th raised $1.7 million in support of its award-winning arts education programs that reach over 6,000 children every week. Check out photos from the event here!

National Dance Institute has announced the Memorial Celebration of the Life of Jacques d’Amboise will take place at New York City Center on June 1, 2022, at 7pm.  General admission tickets are free to the public and available on a first-come/first-served basis.

 A street in New York City has been named in commemoration of the life and achievements of Jacques d’Amboise, legendary ballet dancer and founder of the arts education organization National Dance Institute (NDI).

The northwest corner of West 64th Street and Columbus Avenue in front of New York’s Lincoln Center will be officially named Jacques d’Amboise Place.

National Dance Institute has announced that Juan José Escalante has joined as Executive Director. Mr. Escalante is well known in the field of dance and the arts. He brings extensive experience in non-profit leadership to NDI, having served most recently as Executive Director of José Limón Dance Foundation.

National Dance Institute, the organization founded by Jacques d'Amboise and dedicated to transforming children's lives through the arts, announced today that Artistic Director Ellen Weinstein will retire on September 30, 2021.

Ms. Lester succeeds Interim Executive Director Michael Roberts who assumed the role last June after the retirement of longtime Director Noreen Tomassi. Ms. Lester was selected after an extensive national search and began the role on April 6, 2021.

To celebrate the life of dance legend, Jacques d'Amboise, the long-running arts series Eyes on Dance has provided archival footage of the full d'Amboise family composing some impromptu choreography and executing it together.

He will be greatly missed.
