Featuring book, music and lyrics by Kyle Jarrow, Scientology Pageant is based on a concept by hot New York theatre artist Alex Timbers - the mastermind behind Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and Here Lies Love, the immersive pop musical inspired by the life of Imelda Marcos. "Timbers has a downtown sensitivity that translates well for a Vegas audience," says Heard. "Using children as the main performers in this show isn't just a gimmick. It actually highlights how insane some of the tenets of Scientology really are."
Although none of the cast members can legally drive yet, and some of them are still losing their baby teeth...this is definitely NOT a children's show. "Pageant doesn't pull punches. All the accusations are laid bare, from the money laundering to mental abuse. And it seems all that more sinister when presented by these smiling, innocent children."
Performances of A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant will be Thursdays through Sunday, December 4 - 20. Curtain is 8 pm Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday and 2 pm on Sundays. There will be a special Saturday matinee on December 20 at 2 pm. There will be no performance on Friday, December 5, due to First Friday events.
