Singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson is expanding her skill-set, ready to join the ranks of Sara Bareilles (Waitress), Cyndi Lauper (Kinky Boots), and other pop stars who have recently crossed the bridge into musical theatre territory.

Yesterday she Tweeted:

The singer also told People she reached out to Deaf West's artistic director DJ Kurs and SPRING AWAKENING director Michael Arden after seeing the company's performance at this year's Tony Awards ceremony.

She and several Deaf West company members are working together on an American Sign Language music video for her single "Hell No." Check out a still from the video above!

"It was a total collaboration ... the incredible actors performed with me, interpreting the song into ASL, while I sang -- and tried my best to sign!" Michaelson said.

"We were honored that Ingrid was moved enough by our production of Spring Awakening to invite us to collaborate with her," Kurs told People. "Our mission is to bridge the divide between the hearing and deaf worlds, and our collaboration is a significant step towards this goal. Our company is always exploring the synergy between ASL and music, and we're thrilled that our work is being seen by a new audience."

Michaelson, who is dating SOMETHING ROTTEN!'s new leading man Will Chase, has a new album coming out August 26th, titled IT DOESN'T HAVE TO MAKE SENSE. No word on what kind of musical she'll write, but we can't wait to see what she comes up with!
