Every great school music program begins with the teachers. Music teachers make miracles happen for their students, and every artist who ascends the GRAMMY stage, was touched by an educator. With education a fundamental part of our mission, and with our understanding of the role of mentoring in keeping music alive for generations, the GRAMMY Foundation and The Recording Academy have partnered to present the Music Educator Award.

Open to U.S. music teachers in K through college, the Music Educator Award will be given out at the Special Merit Awards Ceremony in 2015, the night before the GRAMMY Awards. We encourage everyone who was inspired by a music teacher to nominate them for this prestigious new annual award. In fact, anyone can nominate a teacher - students, parents, friends, colleagues, community members, member of The Recording Academy, school deans and administrators, and teachers can nominate themselves. Get started today -nominations are online at grammymusicteacher.com.
