Matthew Morrison is officially returning to New York City next year - and Broadway seems to be in his immediate plans.

Following extensive rumors that Harvey Weinstein was courting the GLEE star for his first foray into musical theatre, Finding Neverland, following its own-of town-tryout in Boston, Morrison has confirmed to E! News that the Great White Way is on the horizon.

"Something is in the works," Morrison told the publication at his recent Halloween/ birthday party. "We're working on something. It's a brand new show. Hopefully, it all works out. I'm looking forward to getting back on stage. Those are my roots. My heart is on the stage."

Morrison previously starred in workshops of Finding Neverland, before fellow Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan took on the role of J.M. Barrie at A.R.T. this year.

Morrison studied musical theater, vocal performance and dance at New York University's renowned Tisch School of the Arts. His big Broadway break came when he was cast as heartthrob "Link Larkin" in the hit "Hairspray."

Morrison was later nominated for a Tony Award for his role in "The Light in the Piazza," and received a Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Musical for "10 Million Miles." He starred in the Tony Award-winning revival of "South Pacific" at Lincoln Center Theater in New York. Recently, Morrison was honored with his first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on GLEE.

No stranger to the small screen, Morrison has had guest-starring roles on "Numb3rs," "CSI: Miami," "As the World Turns," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "Ghost Whisperer." His film credits include "Dan in Real Life," "I Think I Love My Wife" and "Music and Lyrics."

FINDING NEVERLAND, with music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Elliot Kennedy, book by James Graham, and direction by Diane Paulus, will officially fly to Broadway in March 2015.

In Finding Neverland, when a playwright meets a widow and her four boys in Kensington Gardens, he embarks on a friendship that inspires one of the most beloved stories of all time. Based on the Miramax film written by David Magee, Finding Neverland follows the real-life relationship between the Llewelyn Davies family and James Matthew Barrie as he writes the revolutionary 1904 play Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up. Staged by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus and with music by U.K. pop sensation Gary Barlow (Take That), this new musical explores the power of imagination to open up new worlds, and the pressures put upon those worlds by the prospect of growing up.
