Jesse Cook, the Juno Award-winning Canadian guitar phenomenon who is one of the most influential figures in world string music, returns to Minneapolis with his smoldering on-stage charisma for an intimate performance at the Pantages Theatre at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Cook defines his musical style as a fusion of flamenco and jazz improvisation and his work has been featured on "Sex and the City," "The Chris Isaak Show" and several Olympic Games. He and his band will perform material from his fiery, upbeat repertoire and songs from his latest more melodic and moody release, "The Blue Guitar Sessions." Joining Cook on stage are musicians Chris Church, Rosendo "Chendy" Leon, Nicholas Hernandez and Dennis Mohammed. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014. For tickets and information visit HennepinTheatreTrust.org or call 1.800.982.2787.

A Toronto resident born in Paris, Cook is a three-time recipient of the Canadian Smooth Jazz Award for "Guitarist of the Year." He has been performing and recording internationally for more than 17 years blending rumba, flamenco, jazz, new age and world music into his trademark sound. His new album was influenced by the simplicity of Adele's "21" album resulting in a recording that allows the listener to appreciate each musician's contribution. Cook earned a Juno Award in 2000 for Best Instrumental Album for his fourth album "Free Fall." In 2008, "Frontiers" hit number one on the Billboard top new age album chart and he won the silver medal in Acoustic Guitar Magazine's prestigious Players' Choice Awards behind the legendary Paco De Lucia.

In all, Cook has released nine albums, 2 DVDs and a greatest hits collection. His newest television special "Live at the Bathurst Street Theatre," recorded in Toronto, was broadcast on PBS stations around the country. After playing worldwide in 2013, he is touring the U.S. in 2014 visiting cities including Minneapolis, Atlanta, Boston and San Francisco.

An Evening with Jesse Cook and His Band is set for 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Hennepin Theatre Trust's Pantages Theatre (710 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis, 55403). Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 and range from $33.50 to $104 depending on seating preference. All prices include applicable facility fees. Additional service charges may apply.
