Cameron Mackintosh on the secrets to his success!

The UK production of long-running international smash hit mega-musical LES MISERABLES is legendary for its unsurpassed run in the West End and producer Cameron Mackintosh addresses the enduring success of the show as well as his producing background as part of a new interview in promotion of the new Australian production.

Mackintosh shares, "I am a particularly interfering producer, I get into everything, from composing to writing to orchestration, to lighting, set design, costumes, acting, the way the posters look, the ways the ads are set up."

Additionally, Mackintosh relays of the stormy start for the show in the UK, "Luckily, I had a little show called Cats, which had really taken off, so I knew that if I got this wrong, it wouldn't completely knock me out of the business... So I said, I don't care what the reviews are, we are going to the West End and about two days later 'whoomph' you couldn't get a seat."

Mackintosh concludes, "It's the material... Whether or not my shows have been successful, I've always been attracted by the material and tried to make each production better than the last."
