TREVOR: THE MUSICAL is set for tryout run at Chicago's Writers Theatre this fall, with aims for Broadway.

The Chicago Tribune writes that BEAUTIFUL: THE Carole King MUSICAL's director Marc Bruni will helm the musical, which is based on Peggy Rajski's 1994 Oscar-winning short film, which also aired on HBO. U Rock Theatricals is producing.

TREVOR: THE MUSICAL features music by Julianne Wick Davis and book & lyrics by Dan Collins, the writing team for SOUTHERN COMFORT.

The story follows a gay 13-year-old, obsessed with Diana Ross, who struggles with his homosexuality and prejudice from his friends and family.

The film was the inspiration for the well-known organization The Trevor Project, a leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ+ youth.
