Top 10 hit makers and famed Southern rock band Atlanta Rhythm Section will perform at the Suncoast Showroom January 11 and 12.

Originally formed as a house band at Studio One, a recording studio in Doraville, Georgia, the Atlanta Rhythm Section would go on to record many of their own albums, some of which produced singles that charted on Billboard. When starting out at Studio One, the musicians would play for others' tracks three to four days of the week and use the other days to write and produce their own music.

Also referred to as ARS, the group is recognized for hit songs "So Into You" and "Imaginary Lover" from 1977 and 1978, respectively. Other Top 40 hits include "Doraville," "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight," "Do It or Die," "Spooky," all from the 70s and "Alien" from 1981.

Among ARS' albums, the self-titled debut in 1972, with follow up albums each of the next three years, "Back Up Against the Wall;" "Third Annual Pipe Dream;" "Dog Days;" two releases in 1976, "Red Tape" and "A Rock and Roll Alternative;" 1978's "Champagne Jam;" two albums in 1979, "Underdog" and "Are You Ready;" "The Boys from Doraville" in 1980 and "Quinella" in 1981.

ARS's next release wouldn't be until 1989 with "Truth in a Structured Form," followed by "Atlanta Rhythm Section '96," the 1997 release of "Partly Plugged," "Eufaula" in 1999, and the 2000 release of the live recording of "Live at The Savoy, New York October 27, 1981."
