Getting caught up in costume drama, literally!

Legendary stage and screen star Angela Lansbury joins with recent BLITHE SPIRIT London co-star Jemima Rooper to share some hilarious costume-related mishaps that have occurred while the pair were starring in the classic Noel Coward comedy as part of a new interview.

Lansbury comically and candidly shares, "I often catch my hem in my heel when I'm flying around the set ... bringing forth the spirits, encouraging the spirits to come in and so on."

Lansbury also adds, "I can sometimes cause absolute havoc with my hems in my heel."

As for Rooper, her costume challenges have been even more severe.

Rooper shares of the London run, "In London I used to get stuck on all the furniture around the room...They all started laughing!

"It's been a whole challenge in itself and it's a whole separate play," Rooper adds.

Touching upon a particularly memorable additional misadventure with her BLITHE SPIRIT wardrobe, Rooper posits of her problematic dress, "I had to take it off and then hide in curtains because I got naked."

Of note, BLITHE SPIRIT was recently on an international tour and starred Angela Lansbury in the Michael Blakemore production previously seen on Broadway and in the West End alongside Charles Edwards, Charlotte Parry, Melissa Woodbridge, Simon Jones and more.

The latest revival on Broadway in 2009 was directed by Michael Blakemore and starred Angela Lansbury, Jayne Atkinson, Christine Ebersole, Rupert Everett, Simon Jones, and Susan Louise O'Connor. Following its critical acclaim and box office success on Broadway, Lansbury returned to the London stage after 40 years to reprise her Tony Award-winning role. Once again under the direction of Michael Blakemore and starring Angela Lansbury, the London revival opened at the Gielgud Theatre on March 18, 2014, and co-starred Janie Dee, Serena Evans, Charles Edwards, Patsy Ferran, Simon Jones and Jemima Rooper.

The official description of BLITHE SPIRIT is as follows: "Researching for his new novel, Charles Condomine invites the implausible medium Madame Arcati to his house for a séance. While consumed in a trance, Madame Arcati unwittingly summons the ghost of Charles' dead wife Elvira. Appearing only to Charles, Elvira soon makes a play to reclaim her husband, much to the chagrin of Charles' new wife Ruth. One husband, two feuding wives and a whisper of mischief in the air - who will win in Coward's unworldly comedy?"
