Spruce Peak Chamber Music Society to Celebrate Beethoven's 250th Birthday

Spruce Peak Chamber Music Society to celebrate Beethoven's 250th on Saturday, January 18 at 7pm. Regarded as one of the most definitive composers in the transition between the classical and romantic eras in classical music, Ludwig van Beethoven has continued to be a vivid presence through his music. With the coming of his 250th birthday in December 2020, the Spruce Peak Chamber Music Society is paying tribute to his work with a program inspired by Beethoven's career as a composer during 3 periods of his life - early, middle, and late.

New England Youth Theatre presents Matilda: The Musical, the final show of their celebratory 20th season. Playing December 12 - 22 at 100 Flat Street in downtown Brattleboro, Matilda follows the story of an unlikely heroine who dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. Based on the novel by the brilliantly batty Roald Dahl, the musical features a book by Dennis Kelly with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. Directed by NEYT Executive Director Hallie Flower, the Tony Award-winning musical revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life.

Vergennes Opera House Welcomes BROADWAY DIRECT In Its 14th Season

Weston Playhouse New Works Program To Present NATIVE AUTHORS

Weston Playhouse Theatre Company Executive Artistic Director Susanna Gellert announces New Works program selection, NATIVE AUTHORS by Erik Brogger, a new play based on the short stories of Weldon Kees. Set in a community not unlike our own here in Vermont, this play is a portrait of a small town - Weston, Nebraska - attempting to get on the map during the Great Depression. Brogger's plays have been produced Off-Broadway and in regional theaters throughout the country and in the UK. For the past 30 years, he has taught creative writing and playwriting at Hofstra University. His recent work includes the teleplay THE FUTURISTS.

Boston Ballet II (BBII) will perform at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe, Vermont on Saturday, November 2 at 7:00 pm.  The program will feature three works by Boston Ballet-based choreographers, a 19th century work by Arthur Saint-Leon, composer Amilcare Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours, a romantic duet by Tony Award-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, and excerpts from Mikko Nissinen's The Nutcracker.
