OVO’s annual Roman Theatre Open Air Festival celebrates its 10th edition with an incredible line-up of theatre and music, bigger and better than ever!
Renowned for its bold and imaginative spins on classic plays and stories, this landmark year will present brand-new adaptions of English classics as well as the return of some iconic audience favourites from OVO and visiting companies. The Roman Theatre Open Air Festival has become a highlight of the summer cultural calendar, attracting diverse audiences who are drawn not only by the allure of the ancient ruins, but also the high-quality productions.

Pitlochry Festival Theatre and OVO have announced the première of Scottish playwright Frances Poet’s exciting new stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s satirical study of society, money, and love - Sense and Sensibility.
OVO’s Roman Theatre, the oldest producing theatre in the UK, will celebrate the tenth edition of its annual open-air summer festival with an incredible line-up of theatre and music. Renowned for its bold and imaginative spins on classic plays and stories, this landmark year will present brand-new adaptions of English classics as well as the return of some iconic audience favourites from OVO and visiting companies.
OVO, a St Albans-based theatre company, has been awarded a £300,000 grant to create a new theatre in the city. The grant will enable OVO to renovate and convert two derelict buildings into an atmospheric performance space. The new theatre will be located within the Roman Verulamium ancient monument.
Oxford-based Creation Theatre are leaders in site specific and digital theatre and have, over the last 26 years, performed on rooftops, in bookshops, on the street and at industrial sites. In July, Creation partner with OVO, producers of the Roman Theatre Open Air Festival, to present their highly anticipated 20th century production of Much Ado About Nothing which stars members of the Creation rep company and special guests.
OVO will present The Roman Theatre Open Air Festival at the historic Roman Theatre in St Albans beginning in June.
The Maltings Theatre in St Albans presents THE ROMAN THEATRE OPEN AIR FESTIVAL from May 28th to July 11th with a programme of shows designed to appeal to the widest audiences.
