Birmingham Hippodrome will be running 3 workshops from 6-10 August for children aged between 7-16 based on shows that have been on the stage - past and present.
 

Theatre Workshop - Singing, Dancing and Acting
£125 per person

During the week participants will have the opportunity to take part in singing, dancing and acting sessions, and even get to look backstage! The young people will work towards a final sharing for friends and family  that will take place in the Patrick Centre studio atBirmingham Hippodrome on Friday 10th August at 3pm.
 

Aged 7-11
Based on King and I, Joseph, Chitty chitty bang bang and Mary Poppins.
 

Aged 12 -16
Based on Hairspray, Blood Brothers, Dirty Dancing and Little Shop of Horrors.
 

Technical workshop (Aged 11 - 16)
£125 per person

We are offering a unique opportunity for young people to work alongside our technical department and learn just how shows are staged. In a week, they will learn about Stage Management, how to rig lighting, create effects, create concert quality sound and work with film and projection.
 

There are limited places available for this week, so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The workshop will run simultaneously with the Theatre Workshop .The young people will be creating the light and sound for the Theatre workshops final performance.
 

Young people will also have the opportunity to take their Bronze Arts Award during the course. (Technical only)
 

 Important Information!

· For all groups the workshop sessions run from 10 – 3pm.

· Children must be dropped off and collected by an adult each day at Thorp Street Reception and signed in and out of the building. This must be no earlier than 9.45 am for a 10am start and collected at 3pm each day.  Older children +12 can bring themselves independently to the theatre on arrangement with the education team. (please contact them in advance)

·Children must bring a packed lunch and enough refreshments with them each day.  Children will be unable to buy any food or drink on the premises.

·Children must wear suitable comfortable clothing and footwear each day.

·Children must comply with the rules set by Birmingham Hippodrome staff and also respect other members of the group.  Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the project.
 

There will be a final sharing on Friday 10 August at 3pm for friends and family to come along to watch what the young people have been working on throughout the week. This will take place in the Patrick Centre Studio Theatre at Birmingham Hippodrome.
