On February 27, 2021 under the direction of Maestro Kristian Alexander, the Kindred Spirits Orchestra will present a night of imaginative music, streamed live at 8 p.m. (EST) from the SMSV Cultural Centre in Markham, Ontario (Canada). Perhaps the finest cello concerto of the twentieth century, cellist Amahl Arulanandam makes his dbut with the Kindred Spirits Orchestra to perform Shostakovichs Cello Concerto No. 1: a perfect virtuosic balance of romantic passion, tradition and form. Composed at the turn of the century, Russian composer Scriabins Symphony No. 2 is a lush and brooding work surely to evoke the profoundest sentiment. The concert will be approximately ninety minutes long without intermission. There will be an on-stage discussion with Amahl Arulanandam and the KSO Associate Conductor Michael Berec.
