The Muny announced today that Broadway’s Dee Roscioli will complete the cast of the theatre’s 103rd season opener, Smokey Joe’s Cafe. The design and production team for the Muny premiere was also announced. Smokey Joe’s Cafe runs July 26 – Aug. 1.

The Muny will return to its stage in Forest Park this summer, beginning July 26 with a five-show lineup at reduced capacity to meet the recently-updated social distancing guidelines for the City of St. Louis. The theatre was originally slated to present seven shows this summer.

BroadwayWorld had the opportunity to sit down with The Muny’s Kwofe Coleman to discuss plans for the 103rd Season in Forest Park. “We are excited to produce five shows and bring people back to The Muny this summer.” Coleman shared that this is a significant step forward. Shows will be presented at a reduced capacity of 60%, or 6000 patrons for each performance. All parties will be socially distanced, separated by 3-feet on all sides. The Muny’s five show season will open with Smokey Joe’s Café, July 26 – August 1. The season continues with The Sound of Music, August 3-9, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers August 12 – 18, and On Your Feet, August 21 – 27. The season will close with Kander and Ebb’s Chicago from August 30 – September 5.

With careful and ongoing consideration, The Muny announced today a revised schedule to offer musical theatre in Forest Park this summer. Pushing opening night to late July, The Muny hopes to present five of the seven productions originally announced in the 2020 season, with the other two productions being postponed until the 2021 season.
