2026 AWARDS SEASON

Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators covering New York Theater for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway announced its nominees on April 24, 2018. The winners were announced on Monday, May 7th and the annual Gala Awards Dinner and presentation of awards to the winners will be held yesterday, Thursday, May 24th (3PM) at the legendary Sardi's Restaurant.

Yesterday, the 2018 Tony Award nominees gathered at the Rainbow Room in New York City, to toast each other and their nominations. The luncheon was hosted by three outstanding past Tony Award recipients - actress Cynthia Erivo, lighting designer Natasha Katz and singer/songwriter Cyndi Lauper.

On Friday afternoon, the best of Broadway gathered as the Drama League announced the 2018 Drama League Awards Winners for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. At this year's Chita Rivera Awards, actress, dancer, and choreographer Carmen de Lavallade received the second annual Lifetime Achievement Award, iconic composer John Kander received the Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theater as a Composer and legendary theater director and producer Harold Prince was presented with the SDC Director Award for Exemplary Collaboration with Choreographers.
