Arts And Education Council Receives Funding From PNC Foundation And PNC Bank For Arts Entrepreneurs, Programming

The Arts and Education Council today announced that the PNC Foundation has awarded the organization $45,000 and PNC Bank has awarded $5,000 to renew two partnerships - the groundbreaking stARTup Creative Competition for arts entrepreneurs and PNC Program Grants for arts and arts education initiatives.

It is the story of the Norwegian couple-an academic and social scientist, Terje, who has developed a new approach to conflict resolution, and his clever wife, Mona, who is a dignitary in the office of the Foreign Ministry-who together initiated and facilitated clandestine peace talks between the Israelis and the Palestinian Liberation Organization in 1992 and 1993; talks that would highlight the past and decide the futures of two peoples, each having reasonable grievances, though each striving to find resolution.

The Upstream Theater has opened a lovely production of Wittenberg, by David Davalos. It is a 'tragical-comical-historical play', a genre first mentioned by Polonius and rarely seen thereafter. (I guess Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead would fill the bill.) Here in Wittenberg we meet two great figures, Martin Luther and Dr. John Faustus, both professors at the University. Attending their lectures is an ardent young Danish student, Hamlet.
