Improv comedy - it has helped spawn the careers of comedy titans Chris Farley, Steve Carrell, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, and countless others.  The comedic skills people learned there have spread around the world and spawned off thousands of improv theatre & sketch groups, TV shows, and Youtube clips.  Now those talents are being put to use to continue putting Northwest Indiana on the improv map in a special one-day event.  The Stray Dogs Improv of Crown Point High School & Improductions, LLC present the second Northwest Indiana High School Improv Invitational on April 6th at Crown Point High School at 6 PM.

In this 24th century drama Guy Montag, a young fireman, enjoys his job of setting illegally-owned books and the homes of their owners on fire. But after seeing a woman willing to die for her books he begins to have an intense personal struggle about these books and what they might contain that is so dangerous. Written just after World War II, and in the same vein as Animal Farm and 1984, Fahrenheit 451 will thrill you and chill you. Fahrenheit 451 is a Theatre for Young Audiences Production by the Civic Academy and Company.

"Women, Home, and the Revolution of Memory," curated by Rita Koehler in collaboration with the South Bend Civic Theatre, brings together twenty women artists from around the country whose works span the gamut of photography, painting, fiber arts, drawing, collage, mixed media, time-based, and performance art. The works explore women's relationship to home, the passage of time, and the revolution of memory. At a time in history when women are claiming their authority and changing the narrative, this exhibit is not to be missed. Opens March 1st.
