Onstage March 15-24 at the August Wilson Cultural Center, BNY Mellon presents the reunion of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT) and Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) for a mixed bill production celebrating the diversity of talent and styles in American ballet.

New York City's leading center for complete ballet education, Ballet Academy East (BAE) today announced its 13th annual Winter Performance series taking place at New York Live Arts, March 1-3, 2019.

Extend your dance skills and technique in the Marblehead School of Ballet's (MSB) celebrated Summer Intensive Dance 2019 program.   The MSB, a dance and cultural gem on the North Shore of Massachusetts, announces Jessica Davison, a member of the Radio City Rockettes in New York City, returns for a third year to teach a jazz master class in the program. 

Michigan Opera Theatre (MOT) announced today details of its 2019-20 season. The opera series features beloved classics "Don Giovanni" and "Pagliacci;" works long-absent from the MOT repertoire, "Sweeney Todd" and "Gianni Schicchi," and the highly-anticipated company premiere of "Champion," a contemporary American opera. The dance series features the return of American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem, as well as the Detroit Opera House premiere of French contemporary ballet company Malandain Ballet Biarritz. An Oct. 12 gala concert, featuring acclaimed American Tenor Michael Fabiano and principal dancers from American Ballet Theatre, will serve to launch the season.

Jacob's Pillow, in partnership with The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) and the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP), invites early career dance presenters to apply for an immersive professional development experience at Jacob's Pillow, July 10-14, 2019. The National Dance Presenters Forum was reinstated in 2018 in response to field-wide interest and in support of the Pillow's renewed commitment to facilitate and host discourses in dance development through its five-year strategic plan, Vision' 22.

Juilliard Dance, led by director Alicia Graf Mack, continues its season with Spring Dances, a repertory program featuring Martha Graham's The Rite of Spring, Bill T. Jones' D-Man in the Waters (Part 1); and Alejandro Cerrudo's Little mortal jump.

Annenberg Center Live and NextMove Dance present the intenationally-acclaimed Dance Theatre of Harlem, Friday, March 1 (8 PM) and Saturday, March 2 (2 PM and 8 PM). The program includes the world premiere of Philadelphia native and DTH Resident Choreographer Robert Garland's Nyman String Quartet #2; Harlem on My Mind (Darrell Grand Moultrie; choreographer); and Change (Dianne McIntyre, choreographer). This Monday, February 11 marks the 50th Anniversary – to the day – when, in response to the assassination of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the lack of opportunities for people of color to train and perform classical ballet, former New York City Ballet dancer Arthur Mitchell – the first black dancer to be elevated to Principal – created, along with Karel Shook, the Dance Theatre of Harlem. Originally conceived and opened as a classical ballet school for the children in his Harlem neighborhood in 1969, Mr. Mitchell soon formed a performance company drawing from the students trained in the school. Led by his passion and determination, the DTH School and Company thrive today and we celebrate their vision and legacy for a classical ballet company for all.

For 50 years, Dance Theatre of Harlem has inspired the world with a revolutionary vision of a multiethnic ballet company. Co-founded by the great Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook, the company performs ground-breaking works with power and grace. The Actors Fund, a national human services organization that has served all professionals in the performing arts and entertainment industry since 1882, today announced that Tony and Emmy Award winning actress/singer/dancer Bebe Neuwirth will serve as Celebrity Host/Emcee at the 10th anniversary Heart & Soul Gala that will be held on Thursday, March 14, at 7 pm, at The Breakers in Palm Beach.

 On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, American Composers Orchestra (ACO) celebrates four individuals - true forces of nature - who have effected change in the American musical landscape at its annual Gala: Jon Deak, Founder & Artistic Director of New York Philharmonic's Very Young Composers; violinist Jennifer Koh; composer and conductor Tania Leon; and Frederick Wertheim, ACO Board Chairman. 

Playhouse on Park's education department, Playhouse Theatre Academy, is thrilled to welcome back Stephanie Pope for another Fosse Adult Master Class on Monday, January 21 from 6-8pm at The 224 Ecospace! All performers (ages 16 and up!) who have a vested interest in the performing arts are encouraged to attend this amazing class.

The service organization Dance/NYC has announced recipients of the New York City Dance Rehearsal Space Subsidy Program. Administered by Dance/NYC and made possible by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the program offers support over a 36-month period to 15 NYC-based organizations in order to provide subsidized rates for dance rehearsal space.

The Actors Fund, a national human services organization that has served all professionals in the entertainment industry since 1882, today announced that it will honor Palm Beach cultural philanthropist Anka Palitz, along with Ethan Stiefel, principal guest instructor at American Ballet Theatre, and ABT principal dancer Gillian Murphy, at the 10th anniversary Heart & Soul Gala. Not only was Ethan Stiefel the first individual dancer supported by Mrs. Palitz, he and fellow honoree Gillian Murphy are married and expecting their first child.

The weekend before Christmas, The Los Angeles Youth Ballet presented a gorgeous, colorful and professional performance of The Nutcracker at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA. The production was very carefully constructed, with an emphasis on good technique, passion and commitment in performance and lovingly re-created by Artistic Director and Choreographer, Andrea Paris-Gutierrez. It was staged and choreographed optimally for each age group performing. Enchanting might be an adjective to describe the feeling the performers were emitting to the viewers, who's rapt attention was a sign of both enjoyment and endorsement. The Nutcracker Suite was composed by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky, and has long been the favorite balletic composition to be performed during the Christmas Season.

Music scholar, academic and writer Alejandro L. Madrid announced on December 16, 2018 that he has signed a contract with the University of Illinois to write: 'Becoming Tania León. The Journey of an American Composer.' The projected completion date is September 2019. This is sure to be a fascinating read about an extraordinary artist now celebrating more than 50 years in the United States.

Dayton-area audiences will be in for a treat when the International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD) partners with local favorite Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) to present a dazzling array of dance performances by many of the leading Black dance companies from the U.S. and abroad, January 24-26, 2019 at multiple venues throughout the city.

Jacob's Pillow announces the full season lineup of Festival 2019 including world premieres, new commissions, international artists, anniversary celebrations, Pillow-exclusive engagements, and work developed at the Pillow Lab. Entering its 87th consecutive summer, Jacob's Pillow is home to the longest-running dance festival in the United States, a National Historic Landmark, a National Medal of Arts recipient, and has steadily expanded its reach in the field and its local community as a year-round center for dance research and development. Festival 2019 opens June 19, attracting audiences both on and off its site in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, through August 25.

Jack Ferver's critically acclaimed Everything Is Imaginable returns to New York Live Arts' mainstage as the finale to the 2019 Live Arteryplatform during the annual Association of Performing Arts Professionals conference, January 7, 2019 at 10pm and January 8-12 at 8pm. Presented in collaboration withAmerican Realness, Ferver's radiant and evocative dance-theater piece juxtaposes the lives, virtuosity, and fantasies of its five queer performers.

The Maggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance, a program within the College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University, is thrilled to kick off our year-long 90 Years of Dance at Wayne celebration with the annual December Dance Concert, December 7 and 8 at Detroit's Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts.  This year's show promises diverse and moving works showcasing highlights of dance through the decades. Dance students have the pleasure of working with a variety of talented artists, including invited guests, esteemed faculty, and talented student choreographers.

Exploring the breadth and depth of artistry within American ballet, the Kennedy Center's Ballet Across America series returns May 28-June 2 for seven performances in the Opera House. This season's engagement features deeper looks at companies led by distinguished Artistic Directors Virginia Johnson and Lourdes Lopez with their respective companies, Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) and Miami City Ballet (MCB). Each company will present a full program while a one-night-only celebration on May 31 features a shared program that includes both companies in a world premiere Kennedy Center commission by renowned choreographer Pam Tanowitz.

Juilliard Dance, under the leadership of Alicia Graf Mack, opens its season with New Dances: Edition 2018 featuring four world-premiere dances by innovative choreographers Marcus Jarrell Willis (whose dance features the first-year class); Nelly van Bommel (featuring the second-year class); Juilliard alumnus Peter Chu (featuring the third-year class); and Stefanie Batten Bland (featuring the fourth-year class). Each choreographer works with one of the classes for the semester creating the new work; all Juilliard's dancers participate in the New Dances program.

The 50th Anniversary season of New York City's beloved Dance Theatre of Harlem will honor its legendary Founding Artistic Director Arthur Mitchell, who passed away on September 19, 2018, with a memorial service on December 3, 2018 from 5pm-7pm at Riverside Church, 490 Riverside Drive at West 120th Street.
