Patio Playhouse's WAIT UNTIL DARK Runs Through October 28th

Patio Playhouse Community Theater ushers in the season of scares with the suspenseful thriller Wait Until Dark, which opened Friday, October 5. Written by Frederick Knott of Dial M for Murder fame, this version of the 1966 original has been updated by renowned playwright and adaptor Jeffrey Hatcher (Compleat Female Stage Beauty, Tuesdays With Morrie) into a sleek film noir spin for a 21st century audience, even more gripping and fast-paced than before. Set in 1944 Greenwich Village, the plot centers on Susan Hendrix, a recently blind woman who must defend herself from the murderous thieves who have broken into her apartment in search of a doll whose peculiar value will have a surprising reveal. As the gasp-inducing developments advance in a battle of wits between the clever Susan and her ruthless tormentors, she discovers that her blindness might be the unexpected key to her triumph, and ultimately, her survival. The Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum has announced the cast for the New Jersey premiere of the musical comedy A Dog Story. A hit in its Off-Broadway run in late 2016, the play will be directed by Bickford Theatre Producing Artistic Director Eric Hafen. A Dog Story will be performed from April 12 - 22, 2018. Review: WRITE ME A MURDER Engages Audiences from Start to Finish at Theatre Palisades

English playwright and screenwriter Frederick Knott, though a reluctant writer, is known for his ingeniously complex, crime-related plots even though he only completed three plays in his career. Two have become classics: the London-based stage thriller Dial M for Murder, which was later filmed in Hollywood by Alfred Hitchcock, and the chilling 1966 play Wait Until Dark, which also became a Hollywood film starring Audrey Hepburn as a blind woman terrorized by thugs in her basement apartment. His third play, WRITE ME A MURDER, has never achieved the same acclaim nor been performed nearly as much as his other two hit plays. Mariachi Opera About Divided Immigrant Family Returns To Houston Grand Opera

At a time when our nation is wrestling with tough questions about immigration, Houston Grand Opera is bringing back its bilingual production of Cruzar la Cara de la Luna / To Cross the Face of the Moon, a moving story that chronicles the joys and struggles of three generations of a family divided between countries and cultures through the rich melodies of mariachi. HGO presents three special performances on May 17, 19, and 20 in the HGO Resilience Theater at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Composed by Jose 'Pepe' Martinez with libretto by Leonard Foglia and known as the world's first mariachi opera, Cruzar has been performed to audiences around the world, including in New York City in January 2018. HGO's production will feature the Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Los Camperos. Tickets for these productions at the HGO Resilience Theater in the George R. Brown Convention Center are available at HGO.org. Parking is available at the Avenida North Garage located at 1815 Rusk Street, across from Resilience Theater.
