The Ailey organization continues its mission of using dance to uplift and unite all people with the first-ever Ailey Spirit Benefit global broadcast on Thursday, June 11 at 7:30pm ET featuring the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, rising stars of Ailey II, young dancers from The Ailey School and students from AileyCamp.

The Oakland Symphony today released a 130-member virtual performance of the classic Bill Withers song 'Lean on Me.' The performance captures the Oakland Symphony family of ensembles - the Orchestra, Chorus, and Youth Orchestra along with 30 participants of the Symphony's MUSE education program. The performers ranged in age from 8 to 86 and the musicians are of all levels. The video can be viewed at OaklandSymphony.org.

The premiere of Lyric Opera of Kansas City is holding auditions for their  production of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, scheduled for Nov. 7-15 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

Today, Club Passim in Cambridge began distributing the first round of grants from the Passim Emergency Artist Relief Fund. Forty-four grants were awarded for a total of more than $20,000. Launched on March 16, the PEAR fund was created to help musicians dealing with the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trisha Brown Dance Company will celebrate its 50th anniversary at The Joyce Theater (April 21-26) with an historical season commemorating Brown's extraordinary partnership with visual artist Robert Rauschenberg. Over the course of five decades, Brown and Rauschenberg maintained a remarkable creative dialogue, drawing inspiration from each other while investigating the visual and the kinetic. The Joyce program features two pivotal works: Foray Forêt, with original costumes by Rauschenberg, and Astral Converted, featuring Rauschenberg's costumes and mobile set of lighting towers. 

Lyric Opera of Kansas City General Director and CEO Deborah Sandler today announced the company's 2020-2021 season. It features four mainstage productions, including The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess and The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, both of which are being performed on a Lyric Opera of Kansas City stage for the first time. Two all-time favorites known for incomparable melodies - Verdi's beloved La traviata and Bizet's passionate Carmen - round out the extraordinarily diverse season. The Kansas City Symphony Orchestra will accompany all performances at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center (Dance at The Music Center), programmed by TMC Arts, marks the return performances by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion from March 18-22, 2020.

Under celebrated violinist Joshua Bell's direction, the globally-treasured Academy of St. Martin in the Fields will perform two concerts on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020 at 7:30 p.m., and Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020 at 7:30 p.m., at The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts on Oklahoma State University's campus in Stillwater.

Following five-weeks of exceptional performances in New York City, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will continue its “Ailey Revealed” season during a 21-city North American tour which kicks off during Black History Month. The 2020 engagement opens on February 4th at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. with a gala to benefit Ailey's D.C. programs, including the creation of new works, Arts-In-Education activities, and scholarships to talented young area dancers to attend The Ailey School in New York.
