Northern Stage announces its 2019-20 Season, a season of plays that thematically reflect on the past to move into a more positive future. The company's 23rd Season will feature two world premieres by women writers, non-traditional casting in classic plays, and an overall season more diverse and reflective of the world. "Northern Stage continues to evolve from a local theater with a regional impact to a regional theater with a national impact," says Northern Stage Producing Artistic Director and Director of the BOLD Theater Women's Leadership Circle Carol Dunne. "New Works Now and the BOLD Circle enable us to nurture work by emerging artists and women writers. The diverse voices on stage this season elevate our work and challenge us to change lives by including the stories of humanity that are often overlooked and rarely told."

A chilly, grey April afternoon: not the most auspicious weather for an occasion such as the Olivier Awards. Before the nominees and guests arrived it looked set to be another rain-soaked affair, as fans and members of the press were subjected to a bit of a drenching, but with the arrival of the stars came a dry spell - and a chance for us to chat with a selection of excited (and nervous) artists on their way into the Royal Albert Hall.

Royal & Derngate announces another world premiere production, a musical staging of Pippi Longstocking, for the venue's Made in Northampton 2019 Christmas show. Meanwhile, the venue's 2018 Christmas production of The Worst Witch continues to tour the UK. Pippi Longstocking is adapted for the stage for the first time by Mike Akers from Astrid Lindgren's much-loved books, with original music by Stu Barker. It will be directed by The Wardrobe Ensemble's Jesse Jones and Helena Middleton who co-directed Education, Education, Education for Royal & Derngate in 2017.

Central School of Ballet announces new MA Choreography programme participants: Anjali Mehra-Hughes from New Adventures and Sandrine Monin from Phoenix Dance Theatre. The students joined Central this spring on the MA programme that takes 18 months on average to complete, providing the opportunity for professional choreographers to hone their skills, engage in research and develop their practice at the highest level.

Singer, songwriter, and producer Jake Miller releases new song 'NIKES' today off his highly anticipated six-song EP entitled BASED ON A TRUE STORY.due out on March 29th via RED MUSIC. The 80s synth-infused track is backed by rich production, personal lyrics, and a hummable guitar all courtesy of Miller. Stanley Donen, director of movie musicals such as Singin' In The Rain and On The Town, has died, according to Variety. Donen was 94.

Here she comes, world! The first national tour of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival of Hello, Dolly!, starring Tony Award winner Betty Buckley, launched earlier this year from the Stanley Theatre in Utica, New York. The show just opened in San Francisco!

New Adventure's Production of the tale of Cinderella has never been more salacious or delicious. The dancing is superb, as well as the artistry involved in every facet of the production. With the updated scenario created, Cindy's world is smack dab in the middle of World War II. Directed and Choreographed by the incredible Sir Matthew Bourne, and loosely based on his parent's war stories, we are taken to London in the '40s, during the middle of air raids, bombings and destruction. The set design and wardrobe is all very drab in muted black and grey reflecting the tone of the environment. Wickedly creative is the choreography, the sets, the costumes, lighting and sound, not to mention the score by Prokofiev. Cinderella Opus 87 is such a melodious wonderland for a choreographer and his artistic team to work with. There is such power, intensity and magic in this lively piece. In Sir Matthew Bourne's hands, and feet, it is a fabulous, imaginative display of artistry and brilliance.

Incoming Artistic Director Simon Godwin today announces Shakespeare Theatre Company's 2019-2020 Season. Godwin's debut season highlights his artistic aspirations for the company to create high quality, exciting, inclusive theatre. Godwin states, This is not my season, but ours, everybody's season.

With direction and choreography by Matthew Bourne and music by Prokofiev, "Cinderella" will open on February 6 at 8 p.m. and performances will continue through March 10, 2019.

His unique take on CINDERELLA will land at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre beginning February 5, 2019, as part of its international tour. I had the wonderful occasion to interview Andrew Monaghan, who's dancing the dual lead role of Cinderella's heroic pilot Harry, as well as, The Prince.
