American Symphony Orchestra comes to Alice Tully Hall for the holiday season with a concert titled Sons of Bach on Thursday, December 19 at 8 PM. The program will offer rarely-performed works by four of J.S. Bach's sons, showcasing the compositional mastery the young men learned from their father, and also revealing how each was able to develop his own unique style.

The Chicago-based Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation (the Foundation)-an organization that offers unrestricted grants to Chicago theatre companies with budgets under $1 million-recently surveyed its small theatre grantees to reveal the large impact they make in Chicago. A total of 41 of Chicago's approximately 250 theatres participated in the Foundation's survey, representing a significant percentage of the city's storefront theatres.

On Saturday evening, November 16, 2019, Los Angeles Opera presented Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Emanuel Schickaneder's 1791 singspiel, The Magic Flute. The unusual production, which involved the appearance of screens reminiscent of 1920s silent films, was originally devised by Barry Kosky, Suzanne Andrade, and Paul Barritt for Berlin's Komische Oper.

Country hit-maker Lacy J. Dalton is celebrating her 40th anniversary in country music, and of her hit single 'Crazy Blue Eyes' released in the fall of 1979. Lacy J. Dalton gained prominence in the late 1970's as one of the fastest rising stars. With the launch of her first single “Crazy Blue Eyes,” Dalton saw her career rise as the song broke the U.S. Hot Country Charts in 1979, and eventually became a Top 20 hit while on rotation at radio stations throughout the country. After the release of “Crazy Blue Eyes,” Lacy J. continued her streak in country music with 'Takin' It Easy' and 'Everybody Makes Mistakes,' before releasing her signature song, “16th Avenue,” all four reaching the Top 20 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs.
