OPERA America has announced the selection of Douglas Kearney as  the inaugural recipient of the Campbell Opera Librettist Prize. Kearney will receive a $7,000 award  to support his creative and career development. Conceived and funded by acclaimed librettist and  lyricist Mark Campbell, the Prize is the first award in American opera that specifically recognizes the work of  the opera librettist. 

Today, Red Bull Theater announced a very special benefit reading of  Ben Jonson’s classic comedy, Volpone, or The Fox directed by Jesse Berger, Red Bull’s Founder and Artistic Director. Zachary James has debuted CALL OUT, simultaneous visual and audio albums of works composed by women, now released on streaming music platforms. James is joined on the album by pianist Charity Wicks, cellist Jeffrey Zeigler, theorboist Brandon Acker, steel guitarist Kevin Skrla, guitarist Frederick Poholek, and vocalist Megan Nielson.

The Center for Fiction awarded its First Novel Prize, which recognizes the year's best debut novel and carries a $15,000 monetary gift, to Luster by Raven Leilani at its Annual Awards Benefit on Thursday, December 3, with actor and comedian Yvonne Orji emceeing the virtual event.
