Review: AMADEUS at ICT Rep At Oliver Place
by Paula Makar - Oct 17, 2025

WAmadeus is a very rich, poetic, highly philosophical play, with lots of music and moving parts. There’s a great deal emotional heavy lifting, so be ready to become immersed in (as well as inspired by) this intense world the cast and crew has created. It’s pretty epic, so don’t miss it, as it only runs one more weekend at ICT Rep!hat did our critic think of AMADEUS at ICT Rep At Oliver Place?

The History of Feminist Plays That Came Before LIBERATION
by Jennifer Ashley Tepper - Oct 28, 2025

As the fight for women to have equal rights and opportunities has evolved, so has the presence of plays telling these stories. A History of Three-Handers on Broadway
by Jennifer Ashley Tepper - Oct 5, 2025

While a lot has been written about two handers, a term for two-person shows, less has been penned about three-handers. Yet, three-person plays are just as common a genre on Broadway as pieces with only two players. Currently, Art, by Yasmina Reza, is receiving an all-star revival at the Music Box.

Review: TOSCA, Starring Anna Netrebko, Royal Ballet and Opera
by Gary Naylor - Sep 12, 2025

If you come to opera via film musicals and, later, stage shows, Tosca is amongst the most accessible. The story of the lovers and the evil apparatchik is told at a furious pace, trauma after trauma piling up as the emotional heft becomes all but unbearable. There’s no standing about for twenty minutes while someone sings stage left, no mythical dwarves hiding gold, no magical toymaker. Nor, as early critics were quick to point out, is there a whole lot of poetry either in Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa adaptation of Victorien Sardou’s sensational play. However, there are compensations…

The Times Square Church, located on 51st Street between Broadway and 8th Avenue, is an extremely storied New York City spot. While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she? Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.

Review: COME BACK TO THE 5 & DIME, JIMMY DEAN, JIMMY DEAN at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley
by Steve Murray - Jun 23, 2025

Robinson’s adaptation sticks to the development of the characters and deletes some unnecessary filler. Set in Nina Ball’s excellently appointed 5 & Dime during a drought, the once thriving town is now a dried-up skeleton, and the women brought together for their reunion are all caught up in the divergence between present realities and memories of 1955.
