YouTube Makes All New Original Series And Specials Free Starting Today

 YouTube today officially kicked off its new strategy of making its original series and specials free with ads by dropping the critically-acclaimed and fan-favorite first season of “Cobra Kai” in front of the paywall for a limited time with season 2 premiering on September 11. Previously, only the first two episodes of season 1 and the first episode of season 2 were available to sample in front of the paywall. Beginning today, fans without a YouTube Premium subscription can binge watch the entire first season of “Cobra Kai.” On Wednesday, September 11, season 2 will premiere in front of the paywall for a limited time with one episode dropping each week. “Cobra Kai” is an international smash with the first episode of season 1 boasting nearly 55 million views and the first episode of season 2 besting the season 1 premiere by 136%, making it the fastest YouTube Original to hit 20 million views in just 6 days. Production on season 3 will begin shortly. The series, produced by Sony Pictures Television, is written and executive produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. 

Trademark Theater Presents Music/Movement Mashup THE HOLLOW

Local new works theater company Trademark Theater is heading into production for its third World Premiere. The Hollow, Trademark's most ambitious production yet, is a stunning mix of music, movement and visuals combined to create a new, boundary-breaking piece of theater. The Hollow will run from October 2nd through October 20th, 2019 at the Tek Box in the Cowles Center for Dance and the Performing Arts in Downtown Minneapolis.

Today YouTube Originals premiered the trailer for the highly anticipated second season of their original series LIZA ON DEMAND.  Following more than 38 million views of the season one pilot, LIZA ON DEMAND will return with an all new season on September 25, 2019.  Fans can get excited for the second season by binge watching the first season, which will be made available for free starting today only on YouTube. For season two, episodes will be available for free and release weekly every Wednesday. All episodes will be available to binge on launch day for YouTube Premium subscribers.

IFC's DOCUMENTARY NOW to Release 'Co-Op' Original Cast Album

IFC and Lakeshore Records announced today that three-time Emmy-nominated series Documentary Now! has taken its commitment to the comedic artform to new extremes. 'Original Cast Album: Co-op,' the meticulously crafted and 2019 Emmy-nominated episode about the cast album recording of the 1970 'Broadway musical' Co-op, will release its long-awaited Original Cast Album digitally on July 26, with proceeds donated to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The original cast album will include the soon-to-be Marie's Crisis classics 'Holiday Party (I Did a Little Cocaine Tonight),' which will be available as an instant grat track on all preorders beginning Friday, July 19, and solo anthem 'I Gotta Go,' both sure to bring piano bar patrons to their feet with every rising note.
