The Goodbye Girl - 1997 - West End

Based on the screenplay for the 1977 film by Neil Simon

It's hard to go wrong with this warm, light-hearted show that is one of the musical theatre's rare modern romantic comedies.

THE GOODBYE GIRL is based on Neil Simon's well-known film about an unlikely romance between Paula, a bitter, single mother who has been jilted one too many times, and Eliot, the opinionated actor who shows up on her doorstep with a lease to sublet her apartment. It features the same unique humor that has made Neil Simon the most popular playwright in Broadway history. Add a score by Marvin Hamlisch (A CHORUS LINE) and David Zippel (CITY OF ANGELS,  Disney's Hercules and Mulan) and you have an instant contemporary classic!

'Throughout my career,' says BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge, 'I have had the opportunity to do in-depth interviews with some of the greatest artists working on stage, screen and television. One of my favorite interviews, is also one of the rarest, which is a two part sit down with three-time Tony Award recipient, Bernadette Peters. She has done many interviews, but I have never seen another interview with her at this length, that delved so deeply into her illustrious career, which began at the age of five.
