Northport's exquisite John W. Engeman Theatre does it again with a boffo incarnation of Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story. Running through March 3rd at the Long Island venue, the musical is strongly directed by Keith Andrews and boasts an absolutely stellar cast many of whom have been in previous productions of this show. While we know Buddy (along with a few of his friends) died young and tragically in a plane crash, Alan Janes has certainly created a joyous celebration of Buddy's life. (more...)

Peninsula Players Theatre presents a reading of Kristine Thatcher's 'Apparitions.' Thatcher was commissioned by the Peninsula Players in the mid-1990s to write a play using Door County's history and unique character as its major influence. 'Apparitions' will be performed February 4 at 7 p.m. at Bjorklunden, located at 7590 Boynton Lane, Baileys Harbor. 'Apparitions' is produced with support from and in coordination with Door County Reads and its exploration of its book selections 'The Death and Life of the Great Lakes' by Dan Egan and 'Wintering' by Peter Geye. Artistic Director Fred Anzevino announced today his full cast and production team for THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY - the heartfelt, intimate musical based on Robert James Waller's tender story of love, regrets and second chances. Anzevino will be stage director and Jeremy Ramey music director.  THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, with music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown and book by Marsha Norman, won the 2014 Tony Award for Best Score. The second show of Theo Ubique's first season in its new home at 721 Howard Street in Evanston, THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY will preview from March 8-10, open to the press on Monday, March 11 and play Thursdays through Sundays through April 21, 2019. CAPE FEAR REGIONAL THEATRE, winner of BroadwayWorld's Award for Best Musical two years running, is pleased to announce the opening of the hit production, 'ANNIE,' with Book by Thomas Meehan, Music by Charles Strouse and Lyrics by Martin Charnin, based on 'Little Orphan Annie'. The production is directed and choreographed by Robin Levine, with musical direction by Jillian K. Zack. The show features two different youth casts of orphans, the Charles cast and the Strouse cast. Playing the roles of Annie are Lily Hogge (Charles Cast) and Zoi Pegues (Strouse Cast). Also, featured in the company are Robert Newman as Oliver 'Daddy' Warbucks, who is best known for his 28-year run as 'Joshua Lewis' on the hit television series Guiding Light, and Erin Fish as Ms. Hannigan who recently played the role on the U.S. National Tour. Living with his controlling mother and introverted sister Laura, who lives in her own world of make believe, Tom struggles as the pillar of his family. As the memories are revealed, Tom and his mother Amanda, wish for nothing more than for Laura to find a loving husband. When Tom sets up a blind date for his sister with his coworker from the shoe warehouse, Amanda's obsession and frustration is pushed to new extremes, while Laura is left vulnerable and exposed like her glass figurines. A new display has opened at Planet Hollywood Times Square (1540 Broadway) honoring the late director Garry Marshall, which features special artifacts from the original workshop of the Broadway hit PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL, now playing to sold out crowds at Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 W 41st Street). These artifacts include Garry Marshall's blue script binder he used on every film, his notebook from the first workshop and reading of PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL, and the original A-camera slate from the PRETTY WOMAN film, among other items. Victoria Clark To Appear In Song And Conversation At CSC, One Night Only

Complementing performances of Tony Award-winning actress and director Victoria Clark's production of Conor McPherson's new version of Strindberg's The Dance of Death, Classic Stage Company (CSC; Artistic Director, John Doyle) presents the second installment of its new Classic Conversations series. The series began with acclaimed actor Raul Esparza on the occasion of his "blisteringly good" (New York magazine) turn in Bertolt Brecht's Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui; another conversation will be announced this spring. The March 5 at 7pm event will serve as a rare, intimate, and engaging distillation of Clark's life in theater through conversation-with CSC Artistic Director John Doyle and celebrated music director Ted Sperling-and song. Sperling, who memorably worked with Clark on The Light in the Piazza, for which they both received Tony Awards, will also accompany Clark on piano for the musical portion of the evening.
