It's a guide to the Mean Girls movie musical. A Mean Girls remake is officially happening with the adaption of the hit Broadway musical! BroadwayWorld collected all the information we could about the upcoming film - including who's starring, what roles haven't yet been cast, and what will change from stage to screen.

Development is underway for the new musical RUTKA. Selections from the show's exhilarating indie rock score will be presented on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. 

Andy Sandberg, Artistic Director and CEO of the Hermitage Artist Retreat, announced that composer and theater artist Imani Uzuri has been selected as the third recipient of the Hermitage Major Theater Award.

Atlantic Theater Company has announced casting for the world premiere production of The Far Country, an Atlantic commissioned play by Guggenheim fellow Lloyd Suh, directed by Obie Award winner Eric Ting.

Second Stage Theater’s Fall Gala celebration will honor Second Stage Board Chair Terry Lindsay and her husband, Bob Lindsay, Co-Founder and Chairman of Lindsay Goldberg. The gala event will take place on Monday, October 17, 2022. FirstWorks and Brown Arts Institute at Brown University announced community participants and public engagement events surrounding an artist residency with Bill T. Jones. The co-presented residency culminates in a performance of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company's 'What Problem?' at The VETS on Friday, November 4, 2022.

Lea Michele is set to take over as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl on Broadway, beginning performances on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, and when she joins the company, she will be getting a new song to sing! A new interlude of the song 'I’d Rather Be Blue Over You' that Barbra Streisand sings in the movie, will be added to the show. 

Jonathan Groff will star as “Franklin” and Lindsay Mendez will star as “Mary” in Merrily We Roll Along at New York Theatre Workshop. Merrily We Roll Along features music & lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by George Furth. They join the previously announced Daniel Radcliffe, who will star as “Charley”.

The Spring Awakening alum is is joined by songwriters Eg White (Adele, Dua Lipa, John Legend), Jacob Sinclair (Taylor Swift, Pink, Panic! At the Disco), Mike Viola (Ryan Adams, Shania Twain, Mandy Moore), Derek Fuhrmann (Kygo, Iggy Azalea), Justin Parker (Rihanna, Keith Urban, Sia) and Søren Hansen (New Politics).

New Earth Theatre, in association with Arcola Theatre and The North Wall, has announced the full cast for the world première of Kyo Choi's The Apology, portraying the stories of the 'comfort women' of the Second World War and the subsequent political cover-up.

The cast has been announced for the Roundabout Underground world premiere of the bandaged place by Harrison David Rivers. The GB Public Theater 2022 mainstage season continues Aug.4 – Aug 14 with an evocative, penetrating drama about the vicissitudes and complexities of family dynamics, self-identity and the nature and meaning of love today - Things I Know to be True.

Atlantic Theater Company has announced productions for its 2022-2023 season. Atlantic’s 2022-2023 season will include the world premiere musical Cornelia Street, with a book by Tony Award winner Simon Stephens, music and lyrics by Mark Eitzel, directed by Tony Award nominee Neil Pepe and more.

Theater Resources Unlimited has announced their annual Producer Boot Camp: Essentials of Successful Self-Producing. This unique workshop, geared to the specific multi-tasking challenges of self-producers, has been reformatted and rethought for virtual presentation. It will take place on Sunday, July 31, 2022, 12pm-5:30pm ET.

Casting has been announced for PrideArts season opening production - the Chicago premiere of the musical GIRLFRIEND, by Todd Almond and Matthew Sweet, based on Sweet’s album of the same name. GIRLFRIEND will open to the press on Monday, August 29, 2022, following previews from August 25-28, and will play through September 25th.

Previews are July 15 to 22 and regular performances are July 23 to August 14.
