Certainly the only way to mend centuries of bad blood is by having two forlorn teenagers from opposite households fall in love with each other, right? Nothing that a swig (or two) of the finest spirits can’t fix!
Featuring Shakespeare’s most famous feuding family, cousins without a cause, and so many faux deaths it makes daytime TV look good.

Sh!t-faced Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet is entertaining, but it is just not as funny as it could be. The actors are clearly talented and have the ability to perform straight Shakespeare as well as comedy, but simply splitting the show between Shakespeare and slapstick does not work.

Sh!t-faced Shakespeare doesn’t take itself too seriously and puts bawdy entertainment at the top of the agenda; whether Shakespeare himself would give the thumbs up (or perhaps some other finger) is a question for another day.

Following in the footsteps of their booze-fuelled trip to Venice with The Merchant of Venice earlier this year, the critically lauded (and occasionally lambasted) Magnificent Bastard Productions hot foot it to Verona as they make their return to the Leicester Square Theatre (20th June - 1st September). From sozzled star-crossed lovers to a tipsy Tybalt, Shit-faced Shakespeare give Romeo and Juliet their signature shit-faced twist as the cast attempt to navigate the bard's fated love story with one drunk performer.
