Rock of Ages

 Carrie St. Louis will star as Elle Woods in the Kansas City Starlight Production of LEGALLY BLONDE. The production will be Directed and Choreographed by Nikki Snelson, who originated the role of Brooke Wyndham in the Original Broadway production of Legally Blonde. St. Louis most recently starred in the off-Broadway hit TITANIQUE, as well as starring roles in Kinky Boots, Wicked, and Rock of Ages on Broadway. 

A industry reading of ATLANTIS, a new original musical with a score by Australian composer/lyricist Matthew Lee Robinson (Metro Street, TheaterWorksUSA’s The Magic School Bus), will be held in NYC this week.

Now in its 14th year, KC SuperStar is Kansas City's premiere high school singing competition a la 'American Idol/The Voice'. KC SuperStar is produced by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City (The J).

Rock of Ages is coming to the Capitol Federal Amphitheater in Andover, KS. It’s running May 31 through June 4. The show starts at 7:30pm and tickets start at $25!

Broadway's Jeremy Jordan, best known for his portrayal of Jack Kelly in Disney's Newsies, will make his debut at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center in Deal Park, N.J. at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 17. Jordan will perform a concert along with his wife, Ashley Spencer (Grease, Rock of Ages). The couple married in 2012. 

This summer, Centenary Stage Company presents their summer musical series featuring Rock of Ages and Seussical the Musical. Performances for Rock of Ages will run July 6 – 16 and Seussical will run July 27 – August 6 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center of the Centenary University campus at 715 Grand Avenue, Hackettstown, NJ.

Meet the cast of queens that will participate in the first season of Drag Race México. On Drag Race México, eleven contestants seek to take home the crown, become Mexico's next drag superstar and win a grand cash prize. The series will be hosted by drag superstars and former Drag Race contestants themselves, Lolita Banana and Valentina.

Goodspeed Musicals has announced the cast for the world premiere musical comedy Summer Stock, the second production of its 60th anniversary season. Filled with exuberant dance numbers and hits from the American songbook, it is adapted from the MGM/Warner Bros. film Summer Stock and will appear on the Goodspeed stage from July 7 – August 27 in East Haddam, Connecticut.

The smash hit musical celebration of the life of Buddy Holly, BUDDY - THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY, arrives at the Marriott Theatre this summer, previewing Wednesday, June 21, opening June 28 at 7:30 p.m. and closing August 13, 2023.

On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, I had the excellent opportunity to sit down with Eric Sciotto, Director and Choreographer of Rock of Ages at MTWichita, and Brian J. Marcum, Artistic Director at MTWichita. It was a wide ranging interview, with a very stream of consciousness feel, and they were gracious enough to grant me an hour over a lunch break during rehearsal last Tuesday. The energy was high, and I was able to get some excellent insight into Eric’s choreographic process. I also spoke to Brian about leading MTWichita into a new era.

Amelia Cormack (Hadestown) and Allison Guinn (Hair, On The Town) are multi-instrumentalist Broadway babes and fellow Madame Thenardiers! They met on the National Tour of Les Miserables and discovered a mutual love of folk music. This dynamic duo will perform their unique takes on some old favorites, some originals and some hits from David Bowie and Led Zeppelin!

What did our critic think of TINA: THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL at CONNOR PALACE?

Producer Entertainment Group (PEG) will be presenting their telethon Drag Isn’t Dangerous May 7, 2023 broadcasting live at moment.co/dangerous. An endless list of some of the biggest names in drag and film will be participating. PEG’s co-founder Jacob Slane was most gracious to share some of the behind-the-scenes of Drag Isn’t Dangerous, the biggest fundraising effort to combat recent anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation to date.
