BWW Review: WARCROSS by Marie Lu
by Bonnie Lynn Wagner - Sep 21, 2017

WARCROSS by Marie Lu was the first book to give me a book hangover in 2017. I read an advance copy at the tail end of March, only a fourth of the way into the year, and I was seriously up until after 1 a.m. two worknights in a row devouring this book. IT WAS THAT GOOD. I couldn't put it down!!! I read until my eyes drooped, then woke up in the morning, read some more, crammed some more reading into my lunch break, and stayed up again the next night until I'd finishe (more...)

BWW Review: RENT at Straz Center For The Performing Arts
by Carolan Trbovich - Sep 21, 2017

Rent. Jonathan Larson's musical masterpiece inspired by Puccini's La Boheme celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Its theme, characters and life lessons are as curRent today as they were 20 years ago. You can't help but believe that Mark, Maureen, Joanne, Mimi, Roger, Angel, Tom, and Benny, continue to be watched over by Mr. Larson, their creator and guardian angel, whose untimely death missed opening night of his legacy by a few short days. I think his sudden death gave all the more meaning to the song 'No Day But Today'. Launching careers of performers such as Anthony Rapp, Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs, today these big names continue to pay tribute to him singing the show's most popular tunes to an escalating fan base of Rent admirers. Fresh Faces And Inspiring Words At The Stage Debut Awards
by Cindy Marcolina - Sep 18, 2017

Dressed to the nines in suits, gowns, and make-up worthy of Hollywood's glitziest of nights and shrouded in the humbleness and grace that only belong to the theatre folk (well, most of them, anyway), actors, writers, composers, and directors walked with full hearts and starry eyes. by Kristen Price - Sep 16, 2017

Last summer, the Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre performed 50 YEARS UNDER THE STARS, an evening of Broadway songs and dances to celebrate their 50th Anniversary. It was such a hit that they decided to mount another production this year, and after seeing their gorgeous production of Rent last summer, I decided I wasn't going to miss it this time around. LIGHT UP THE STARS opened September 15th and will run until September 24th, on the weekends, and I had the pleasure of seeing it on opening night. After the first few songs, I mentally decided that to really do this show justice, I would need to start creating adjectives that would accurately describe just how amazing this cast was. In short, I was blown away. (more...)
